Huge upset: :DEN beat :CZE 3-2. They lost all their games at the Worlds last year and got relegated. First ever win for :DEN at the Olympics.

If :DEN beats :SWE and :JPN beats :CZE then Denmark qualifies for the quarterfinals O.o

just imagine for a second a quarterfinal Canada - Denmark

maybe our commonly shared record of the Olypics from 2010 would be in danger :p

Can't believe they played that game in Rogers Arena in front of a sold out 17k+ crowd, and it was even the thing CTV (the main TV network broadcasting the games) was showing. That must have been a wild experience for that Slovakian team, who I presume wasn't used to getting that kind of attention.

Yeah, I remember that match pretty well as well, it was also live in our TV, the first day of the Olympics, actually people were not so pissed since it was a couple of hours afer Slovakia won its first ever gold medal at the WOG :p so we had rather quite positive feelings, anyway this was a complete joke match, I do not remember how many times our girls get the puck from our D-zone

But they were so proud of making it to the Olympics and all atmosphere, I remember them crying in the middle of the rink afer all the cheering they received despite the massacre from the fantastic local fans in the stands.

Really disappointing to see Finland fall on it's face during this tournament, pre-pandemic it really seemed like they were catching up (and tbh they are the rightful winner of the 2019 worlds).

:CAN and :USA have a brutal arms race with each other, and it seems almost impossible for anyone else to keep up.

    • game over!    Ineos Britannia wins the 11th race against  Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and takes the Louis Vuitton Cup home by a final score of 7-4   once again, with those boats and those rules, the start was the key of the whole race   winning the early engagement and gaining the advantage to choose the side of the regatta course where to go first made any effort of the opposing team useless, like in some F1 circuits (like Montecarlo) there's no chance to overtake (unless the opponent makes a capital mistake or breaks the boat -it happened twice to LR in this final series)   for , this is the first America's Cup match appearance since 1964, when the Royal Thames Yacht Club (boat: Sovereign) lost (4 races to 0) to the  New York Yacht Club (boat: Constellation) in  Newport   the 37th America's Cup match (best-of-13 races regatta) will start next Saturday, October 12th, always in  Barcelona and features the defending team  Emirates New Zealand and the challengers,  Ineos Britannia
