vinipereira 3,240 Posted April 15, 2016 #202 Share Posted April 15, 2016 Maria Lenk Trophy (Brazilian trials) - Day 1 For brazilian trials, the criteria is very simple: achieve the Olympic standard and you're in (the two best times will qualify if more than 2 athletes achieve the standard). Remember that brazilian athletes had two qualifying tournaments for the Games - the Open in December, and now the Maria Lenk Trophy, the last chance to meet the standards. After the first day, the following athletes are guaranteed in the Olympics: Men's 100m Breaststroke - João Gomes Jr. (59.06) and Felipe França (59.36) Men's 400m Freestyle - Luiz Altamir Melo (3:50.32) Men's 400m Individual Medley - Brandonn Almeida (4:14.07) Women's 100m Butterfly - Daiene Dias (58.04) and Daynara de Paula (58.38) Women's 400m Individual Medley - Joanna Maranhão (4:38.66) As many of you may know, current silver medalist Thiago Pereira decided that he won't participate in the 400m IM event at Rio Olympics. JoshMartini007 2,536 Posted April 16, 2016 #209 Share Posted April 16, 2016 Russian Trials - Day 1 Men's 400m Freestyle - Aleksandr Krasnykh Russia has changed their qualification format. First place automatically qualifies (provided they have beaten the standard) while an athlete which missed the trials can apply for a consideration provided that they were faster than the second place swimmer and have also swam faster than the standard (I call this the Efimova rule).
