According to SwimSwam Haiti will select its first female swimmer though she didn't swim at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships nor does she have the B standard. She will compete with Frantz Dorsainvil.

Other swimmers from Latin America

:PAR Ben Hockin

:PAR Karen Riveros

:BAR Lani Cabrera

:BAR Alex Sobers

:ARU Mikel Schreuders

:ARU Ally Ponson

:LCA Jordan Augier

Also, :TRI Dylan Carter received an invite for his B standard (most likely men's 100m freestyle), a woman will probably not be added unless FINA wants to ignore 2015 World Aquatics Championship as a requirement.

Exactly. I didn't understand why FINA made its decision to publish the list on a later date. Many swimming fans kept on waiting and updating about the list of qualified swimmers. Do you know who among the Dutch swimmers provisionally selected to the Olympic team?

The Dutch swimming federation has basically exploded this morning with the 'president' suddenly leaving, so it might take some days before they announce the roster and I guess that's the reason :p

Here's a description from FINA about the confirmation of swimmers:

Following the end of the qualification period, FINA shall assess the number of athletes having achieved the OQT / “A” Time, the number or relay-only athletes and the number of Universality Places. In order complete the overall athletes’ quota, FINA shall then invite athletes having achieved OST / “B” Time and inform each NOC accordingly by 3 July 2016. An online tracking tool shall be published on the FINA website showing the athletes qualified in each event. FINA will also seek confirmation from NOCs/NFs concerning the participation of swimmers with OQT.

So when will they ever implement an online tracking tool on the website? It's already been a week since the qualifying period ended, and it's not even happening. The instructions are getting ineffective and useless.

FINA World Rankings tool is already given, but the site must provide online tracking tool to display who already qualified in each event for the Olympics. We cannot just simply rely on the rankings, because there are countless swimmers listed in each event, whether he or she swam through A or B cut.

There was a special OST athletes tracker in 2012 but still nothing this time (even though qualification system said otherwise). Coverage of Olympic qualifications has been below par by a number of federations...

    • North American rugby quotas ( and qualified automatically)    M: and W: and
    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
    • Shemyakina won a bronze medal in 2014 Worlds and was one of our leader but leave the squad due to pregnancy (she has 2 daughters if I'm not mistaking, so she chose family instead of sport). And speaking of foil we have back in the day Sergiy Golubitskyi, who was Olympic silver medalist and won some medals in other competitions and coached his wife Caroline Golubitskyi - one of the German foil specialists. Even in women's foil we had medal in Women's foil at the European championship - it was Olha Leleiko, our current national coach. So no, we are pretty good fencing country, and depending on generations of our athletes some events are more "profitable" for us and some don't.
    • Shemyakina that was a very strange story. She unexpectedly won the games but before and after she literally achieved nothing. After that success in 2012 she also completely disappeared. It's only in epee that such strange situations. That's why I've always preferred foil and sabre, because the top was more stable there, although that's changing now. The competition has grown a lot all over the world.
