There's still plenty of time for the defeated nations to recover and qualify for the knock-out phase. Just a reminder that there are no matches scheduled for tomorrow, which is instead designated as "Japan Day" and is open to all users to post tributes to Japan. Users can post their content in any style or format they wish. Any contribution is welcome . That's all from Japan today, see you all soon! Vojthas 949 Posted July 23, 2020 #767 Share Posted July 23, 2020 As it's already past midnight at my place and far past midnight in the TISC - Special Event host country... Vektor 3,326 Posted July 24, 2020 #768 Share Posted July 24, 2020 There's no Japan Day without Joe Hisaishi (or Olympic Opening Ceremony in Tokyo, I mean, he has to perform there, right? ). He's the one anime composer everyone knows around the world, sometimes I refer to him as the "John Williams of anime", he has made countless memorable scores for Ghibli movies. Here are two of his most famous work, from the two most famous Ghibli movies, One Summer's Day from Spirited Away and Ashitaka and San from Princess Mononoke. Griff88 1,952 Posted July 24, 2020 #769 Share Posted July 24, 2020 Tokyo has incorporated things from 1964 for this edition, including the promotional song Tokyo Gorin Ondo 2020. The song is a remake from the original version in 1964 sang by Haruo Minami, changing the words Rio (from Rome) and added the Paralympics in the lyrics. The enka singer died in 2001, and a statue has been built in his memory in his hometown Nagaoka Vektor, OlympicIRL and Wumo
