Not a good Day 2 for Canada.

The Men's 2x was eliminated and will finish last, the Women's 4- will compete in Final B, and the Men's 4- will compete in Final C.

Only the Women's 1X advanced to the semifinals.

The lack of gold for Italy in M4X here will be a huge disappointment for me: we are the only ones here with an unchanged squad from Paris, the Netherlands are not there and the rest of the teams have 1-2 elements at most. For now, I think the Italians are holding back a bit, but I'm hoping for a full-fire run in final and a gold medal. We need to seize these opportunities when our opponents are weaker.

In the women's W2-, unfortunately, Romania is out of reach, but silver/bronze are possibile for Italy. This should be a battle with France and the USA. Overall: two medals in Olympic events would be OK for us here, but it's important to win some gold, becouse we have a little number of gold this summer.

I could missed it but it looks like some new rule - when some spots in semi-finals and finals are determined by best times.
Good decision!

Fortunately the mighty Dutch have temporarly run out of bonbons, so these finals will be exciting to watch

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?

The Netherlands was also a weaker in M4X in 2022, but then returned to the top in the following years.

They are usually weak 2 years after Olympics and then suddenly the "boosters" kick in. I'm talking about all their crews, not just M4x. Everybody knows what happens, but when you're born in the right part of Europe, some things are put aside

or, like GB they play around with the crews with an eye on making the best groupings for 2 years before when it really matters

but sure "boosters" is easier to explain away

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
