The women's US team are not rated as being good enough for a host quota and there is also a big problem with the men's team as the US Cricket federation are on the verge of being suspended from the ICC for breaking their rules.

The Asia Cup T20 tournament kicks off today in Dubai, although India is formally the host country (you know, the usual stuff between India and Pakistan). For the first time, there will be eight teams. In addition to the full members who qualified automatically, the UAE, Hong Kong and Oman have also qualified, while Nepal was (somewhat surprisingly) eliminated in last year's tournament.

 

It kicks off today with the opening match between :HKG and :AFG, with Hong Kong undoubtedly the weakest of the eight teams but perhaps capable of springing a surprise.

Meanwhile :SAM has gone all out for qualifying for the T20 World Cup. :NZL internationals with Samoan links have been called in the team. This includes Ross Taylor, whose mother is Samoan, and has scored 18,000+ international runs across the 3 formats guiding Kiwis to ICC multiple tournament finals.

 

In some other interesting news Ayaka Kato :JPN has decided to relinquish the Cherry blossom fold the gold and green of :AUS where she has been selected in the national team.

Tomorrow India and Pakistan will face each other in the Super 4 of the Asia Cup, the most eagerly awaited match of the tournament :cheer:

they already played each other in the group stage and it was an embarassing loss for Pakistan

I hope Tomorrow they can play a lot better

And that too in T20s, which was the last format in which they were good. Losing to Nepal by 90 runs is simply unimaginable.

      Sara Schmied misses the 2nd run at the WC in Altenberg, coming in 26th place, leaving her with 491 points.   That means:    Zunte is already qualified as she got more points already.  Andzane needs to finish 29th or better in today's EC race to qualify  Burger needs to finish 23rd or better in today's EC race to qualify.  Delka qualified for the 2nd run in Altenberg in 24th place and thus has already more points, unless she crashes.  Johansen needs to finish 13th or better in today's EC race to qualify.  Simmchen also qualified for the 2nd run in Altenberg in 22nd place but needs to finish at least in 15th place to be impactful.

      no, it's hockey! and it doesn't work that way you can even field Bobrovsky in the net, Makar and Josi on D and McDavid, Draisaitl and Crosby on offence and they wouldn't win a single match all alone a good Hockey team needs at least a great goalie and 3 blocks (2 d-men and 3 forwards each) to be competitive at this level 2 or 3 stars paired with amateurs can do absolutely nothing   and as I wrote many times, you can be on top of every sport...this one is not made for the Italian people: we simply don't have infrastructures, players, money and media/popular interest  hockey in Italy (intended as a whole Country) just doesn't exist, any speculation about Italy and hockey is only a big waste of time

      Does anybody have the document "late athlete replacement detailed annex" for Cross Country skiing? Can't find it on IOC or FIS. Just wanting to check if there are any changes to the previous rules about replacing athletes during the Games.
