Assuming there is a next time for him.

Yeah, I am still going to hold on to the hope that IOC is not going completely nuts and cutting off one of the most classic Olympic winter sports (after all, as a serious competitive event it basically precedes both cross-country skiing and ski jumping).

Looking at who has now become the head of the IOC, I fear that the madness will accelerate, since the traditional German- Bach has already done such strange things as duets in ski jumping, etc. There will be further promotion of another oddities, like break dance, fewer quotas for Europe, at the expense of Africa and Asia, like in fencing at now.

We'll see, who knows having a woman at the head will be the saving grace for Nordic combined by letting the women in after these Olympics.

Gaia Brunello did made the Olympic quota in biathlon? I recently saw her skier on TV and to put it mildly, she doesn't look like someone who grew up and trained in the ITA... Unfortunately, her level is very low if she always skiers like she did in Ruhpolding.

She has been having a shitty season, especially due to illness, so Ruhpolding absolutely wasn't her normal level. Last season she was way better (and healthier) and due to that she still has a chance on reallocation. But for that I'd refer to the biathlon thread so we can keep it about Nordic combined here :p
