It is official - no russians in bobsleigh and skeleton at 2026 Olympics

I wonder if Tretiakov and Nikitina are still active. Hopefully we still get to see them one day, especially Nikitina (Tretiakov was getting quite old already).

Unfortunately Vietnam will not be attempting to qualify for the Olympics. They were unable to secure a sled(s) for the season

Great article here about Eugenio Monti, the Italian bobsleigh legend after whom the Cortina track is named

And congratulations to :ITA for getting the track ready so early, the first time since the Emperor Diocletian (284-305 AD) that any Italian major building project has come in ahead of schedule.  :hatoff:

Hi!

I’m looking for 1–2 people interested in helping with a small new project: an English-language winter sports website called All Things Snow.

The site will launch in January, and it will focus on simple competition reports and fan-written articles. Everything is volunteer-based. The goal is just to create a small, friendly space for winter sports fans. We already have people covering Nordic sports, biathlon or alpine skiing.

I’m 16, so this is a beginner project, and I want to be open about that. I already write for motorsport websites, and now I’d like to try something similar for winter sports.

Right now, I’m especially looking for someone who follows bobsleigh, skeleton, or luge and would enjoy writing occasional short World Cup/World Champs/Olympics event summaries (even just once per week or less - very flexible). Obviously this is the bobsleigh thread, but if you are interested in any other sports you can reach out as well.

If you’re interested or want more details, feel free to reply here or add me on Discord: macekimek1

Sorry if this post in unrelated, but I believe this is the best place to find people passionate about winter sports!

:POL Linda Weiszewski and Klaudia Adamek will compete in this week in both European and World Cup to save their place in Olympics and make a debut for Poland in womens events, since they are now last among qualifiers as far as I know, since Jamaica got second quota in 2 womens event yesterday.

Edited by rybak

Worth to add, if Klaudia Adamek will qualify after all, she will become first Polish athlete who did compete in both Summer and Winter Olympics.

Same for Salome Kora from Switzerland

Did we provisionally lose our two-woman quota? What happened?

The two-woman quota is based upon the "combined" ranking. The 6 best monobob + 6 best 2-woman results are taken into account at the moment (7 once this week's WC race has been raced).

:POL Weiszewski competed in Europe Cup yesterday in the monobob, finishing 2nd, which gave her 110 points. This was her 7th monobob race, so this result replaced her worst (80 points), helping her leapfrog Cernanska by 8 points. At this point I guess she's in a better spot, as she's got the same room for improvement in the two-woman today, while Cernanska probably won't compete that well in the WC.
