The issue for China is that if all the other nations put their strongest swimmers on the same leg as Pan, presumably 1st, then the Chinese team would lose a fair chunk of time compared to if he was swimming alone.

unless he destroys them all, like in Doha (remember, he swam the WR in the relay's first leg, not in the individual race)

He broke the WR in Doha swimming with lots of clean water. The next fastest time was 1.1 seconds slower. In the individual he was hit with more was and so swum 47.53. In all of his sub 47 swims he has swum with virtually no wash, which won't happen in Paris if the other teams target him.

I wouldn't discount Australia's chances in the 7s. If Longbottom is fit then they're one of the medal favourites.

They're outsiders. Their big competition record is quite weak and they've not shown any sign of huge form this year.

Well for :CAN we could win up to 4 if everything goes our way. But in only one event we’re among the favourites, with McIntosh in the women’s 400m freestyle.

Cordano Russell in men’s street skateboarding, men’s and women’s 4x100m freestyle relays in swimming are outside chances.

On paper it appears that way but they've been a completely different team when Longbottom plays. He has played four tournaments this year where they've finished 7th (knocked out by South Africa who won that tournament), 2nd, 2nd and 4th where he only played a few mins in the 3rd place match. In other words they could have very easily have medaled at three out of four events with him which is a pretty good strike rate. Longbottom was named in the team of the tournament on those three occasions as well so it's not like it was a coincidence that they played better when he was there.

Australia also has Toole re-entering the SVNS system who was a standout and gives them the speed that they have been desperately needing in their backs. They've also got a couple of other Super Rugby players potentially joining. Unfortunately Lancaster was always down as re-entering the system which would be massive but it seems like the Wallabies will use him. But if he did then that is another major strike weapon that they haven't had outside of the Perth round.

As I said though it depends on whether Longbottom is fit which seems very uncertain. Without him you can put a line through them but with him they're a completely different team and that's without the other new additions.

India has a chance of medal in only mixed rifle .... But this is an event we have won a silver in 1/4 world cups ... So slim but decent chance as we will have two teams
