wow that's unbelievable. :yikes::cry::cry: but if the whole news of being overweight is correct I'm afraid the rest is true too, if you are overweight you are disqualified unless you completely withdrew from the 2nd day with medical reasons which is not the case here.

I'm just speechless. this is really a rookie mistake  I have to say I can't remember this ever happened in serious international competitions, let alone the most important competition

most people make up a fake medical document for this case, UWW easily accepts this. but based on the link you posted looks like the Indian team wasn't prepared for this

There are reports that it is not allowed. Unless you are injured in match and have forfeited the match by injury, you have to attend the second weigh-in. Image

Not the ideal situation, but the best case scenario, instead of not having a final and no silver medal awarded. Better to give a chance to the losing semifinalist.

How is that even possible? I s2g India has had the worst luck at Paris

Worst luck of what? Vinesh is clearly a 53 kg wrestler, and it showed yesterday. Of course, it's a disaster for India, but on the other hand, she beat Susaki, so she at least did not leave the Paris without nothing

Novikov starts today. I want a final Novikov - Beleniuk. It would be a big story but I do not think Zhan has a form to reach final.

I'm cautious with the expectations as haven't seen good stuff from the wrestlers so far. The Bisultanov match isn't an easy one.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
    • I’ve been recently introduced by some friends to cricket (or the t20 version of it, at least) and actually liked it so I’m following the World Cup that’s happening during this month
