ISA and IOC chose Teahupoo to host Surfing, because the great waves.

Then, they decided to call the conpetition on, in these conditions. Simply pathetic.

Yeah, the sea is completly flat, horrible to watch.

If you’re finding it boring, then don’t watch it?

this is the end of the day and there is nothing else to watch (except football which I'm watching on the other screen)

I watch every singly Olympic final (as much as I can of course) but it doesn't mean I enjoy watching all of them. and Surfing is definitely in the very bottom of my list.

I seriously try to enjoy every single Olympic sport but some of them are simply impossible to watch.

This is the last day of the waiting period so… not much of a choice.

I know it. But that is the problem, they had many other options. They could have ended it two days ago, when the waves were massive.

They could have delayed it a little bit, because looks the waves will improve later, or maybe just fucked up with this window, and just selected a better day for competitions.

It should be a great show of surfing, because it usually is in Teahupoo, but they are simply wasting another opportunity to show Surfing, in the Olympics, with these pathetic men's semifinals.

wow Medina lost?. Guess Peru will bite the dust yet again now.

Brazil having a lot of trouble to get golds. Weston will have to neutralize this deficit. Only the volleyball women (x2) and Queiroz left as realistic chances I think.

And Ana Marcela in the open water. Anyway, who knows? Our two gold medals so far were not expected by anyone, maybe more will come along like these.

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)

    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.
