Big result at the U18 Greek National Championships in Patras 

 

Maria Rafailidou with a U18WL in the 3kg shot put! She was 2nd in the world with 17.80 before this, with the U18WL being 18.43. Today she broke it three times, with 18.50, 18.65, and 18.70.

 

Anastasia Andreadi was 2nd with a disappointing 16.97, but for the year she is third in the world with 17.76.

 

Both Rafailidou and Andreadi have been breaking national U18 records this year. Although Rafailidou is now doing better, Andreadi is younger and will have another chance at the records in 2025.

 

Pretty cool for us to have two of the top 3 U18 women's shot putters this year, especially since that's not an event we normally excel in. We haven't qualified any female shot putter to the Olympics since 2008 for example...

 Lamont Marcel Jacobs wins in 9.92 (rounding into form right before the Olympics), ahead of his compatriot  Chituru Ali in 9.96, and  Andre DeGrasse in 10.00 (fastest time for him since September 2021)
