Good luck to teams having to travel between CONTINENTS after group stage when there's literally 4-5 days before the knockout phase. Jet lag will kill them. Expect a complete shitshow in that tournament. Expand It's only the first match for Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay, then all the matches are played between Spain, Portugal and Morocco. Not that big of a mess. Infantino is pleasing everyone, USA in 2026, Europe in 2030, South America gets a symbolic host too, and likely Saudi Arabia in 2034. Everybody happy. If they’re all in the group stage, it shouldn’t be too big a logistical nightmare. It’s still kind of dumb, but maybe not batshit crazy Expand Honestly this is what might make it worse. Tons of people making entirely unnecessary travels for 1-3 matches.... Obviously it is indeed all about having paid FIFA, but they've got to make a nice story around it Edited October 4, 2023 by heywoodu . heywoodu 15,335 Posted October 4, 2023 #13 Share Posted October 4, 2023 And yeah, Saudi Arabia seems super likely for 2034. Good thing North Korea isn't rich or we'd be having every event there Josh and orangeman 2 . LDOG 2,418 Posted October 4, 2023 #14 Share Posted October 4, 2023 This is: 1. Stupid. 2. Humilliating (we're being given "scraps" by the europeans). 3. Logistically a nightmare for our teams cuz it will worsen our chances to perform in the competition. hckošice, Josh and NearPup 3 Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/24250-mens-football-fifa-world-cup-2030/page/2/#findComment-586102 Share on other sites

Expand Except the teams that have to play that one game in South America and travel for the other two to Europe/Africa (FIFA got rid of the 3-team group nonsense so it will be 4-team groups again). Actually it's not that easy for the hosting teams either especially Paraguay who are far removed from their football prime. It's impossible to please everybody anyway. America, the other in Europe. then the KO round with teams travelling the globe later in Europe. Only three games is nonsense and false alms to the poor in front of the audience 3) I agree. Hopefully FIFA and organizing Committee will build the schedule in order for at least the 6 involved teams will have a longer time between their matches from S. hckošice 15,101 Posted October 4, 2023 #17 Share Posted October 4, 2023 and by the way, why exactly Paraguay ? I keep thinking about it and I can nott find a single reason why. Dmitry 92 Posted October 4, 2023 #18 Share Posted October 4, 2023 (edited) I think some European teams may send their reserve players to South America if they will play in those games or at least to stay some of their big players in Europe without travelling across the ocean.
