First case is a man who went to Champions League, while the second is his brother. :p

Interestingly, first case's girlfriend, who also went to Milan, tested negative. :yikes:

Better test her again, since plenty of people have tested negative at first :p

If those countries just reported first cases take strong reaction to contain the spread, they still should be considered safe. If the virus can be contained in China, Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran, then it still could be resolved in a couple of weeks. It's a choice between strong action to affect people's daily life and society economy or mild action to keep society work well but greater chance to spread.

And if part of the first one is literally locking people in their own homes and violently arresting people who might be sick, that is not an easy choice to make.

That's the dilemma we are facing, each action with its own pros and cons. Lots of Chinese scold Korean government not taking strong action to those religious gathering which contributes more than half the patients in Korea. But I can understand because of different political system, Korean government can't do lots of things directly especially seeming violating human rights

Mostly that is (luckily) an issue, yes. The advantage for the Chinese government is that they just really don't need to worry about silly stuff like human rights :p

First case of coronavirus has been confirmed in Brazil (São Paulo - also first in South America). And, how do the doctors act? Send the 61 years old man back home :hairpull:??‍♀️

Ok, we should not panic. But what about the safety of the ones who live with this man? I don't think he is gonna stay 14 days completely isolated in a room in his house. Also, about the safety of himself... we see that a large part of the deaths are old people. I would not accept to be sent home if I were in his place ?

If he is in China, first he will be mandatorily stay in hospital until he is fully recover. After recovery he will be sent to a hotel with another 14-day quarantine. Second, his close contacts(family members, co-workers) will be quarantine in a hotel for 14 days. Third, his other contacts( neighbors, people wherever he met in a short time) will be asked to quarantine at home for 14 days. local government staff will be responsible to monitor and deliver food and goods during home-quarantine. Hospital treatment and mandatory hotel quarantine are free of charge ( very socialism haha).  A great social loss for China but finally the situation is under control now.

I don't see that ever happening here in Brazil, unfortunately ?

Here, even the ones that are still waiting for the results (suspected) are sent home. Sometimes it seems like they want people to be infected so we can get on international news ??‍♀️?

"Brazil is the first one in South America, yaaaaaayy! :cheer:" ...

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
    • The next chapter in the Krasnobaeva saga is upon us.   Looks like  Armenia have cut ties with her after only a few weeks. A person from their Federation has said, that they won't continue the relationship, because of her unprofessional and rude attitude towards the coaches and other officials. That includes: - having no respect to the coaches and their advise; - training without any motivation; - stops doing the routine and throws objects without any reason; - just lays on the floor and ignores the music.   When this was escalated with her mother, she mentioned that "Elvira has a strong temper and she was the same in Bulgaria and they tolerated her". Which of course is complete BS. If anyone attempted this shit here, they would be thrown out immediately.   And now  are wanting from her mother to return all finances they gave them, which she is refusing, so they will probably sue them. They will also inform other RG Federations about this situation, so they don't hire them.   My 2 cents on this is most likely Krasnobaeva was happy in BG and was forced out by her mother, so now she is sabotaging the move and be done with it.
    • Honestly Ruka is my favourite World Cup event of the whole season. Everybody is there. Later on there is always someone who skips one weekend or another . Not everybody takes part in Tour de ski. But here everyone shows up.
