the women's -59kg class was won by :CHN Luo Shifang with 243kg in the Olympic Total (107 in snatch and 136 in C&J, both scores good for gold also in the single disciplines)

with this win and this mark she also consolidated the lead in the OQR

today's silver medal went to :UKR Kamila Konotop with 236kg in the Olympic Total

bronze instead was won by :CHN Pei Xinyi with 232kg, just ahead of the Olympic Champion from Tokyo, :TPE Kuo Hsing-Chun with 231kg

however, there weren't many changes in the OQR in this weight class, with the only notable moves being the huge improvement by :NGR Rafiatu Lawal, who ended today's competition in 6th place and climbed the ranking up to the same 6th useful place and :BEL Nina Sterckx moving up 11 kilos and placing herself into the 10th useful place in the OQR, dropping :FRA Dora Marie Tchakountè out of the provisionally qualified lifters

:CHN will have to choose three athletes only between 5 weight categories they are dominating in women competition... just wondering what would be their selection criteria

+87kg is a lock because the super-heavyweights are the most prestigious category

then, I think they will look at how safe the gold medal is (with an eye of regard for the big names, if they can)

Meanwhile...

In another part of the weightlifting there is good news for Russia's Tatiana Kashirina.

The good news is she will keep her Olympic medal from 2012.

The bad news for her is that she loses 19 other medals from 2013 to 2017. 9 World championship medals (8 gold), 9 European Championship gold medals and a Universiade gold. Must be a world record at medal stripping?

Why she keep medal from 2012... illogical

The announcement said the sample she tested positive with is from Russia lab scandal in 2013 … but I believe retesting of her 2012 sample should carried out again (if physically possible)

old samples can be legally tested until 8 years after they were collected, so those of 2012 are now "legally dead" and actually they should have been destroyed after the end of the period they have to be kept by law

Legally you’re correct

but with the new testing methods which can detect more substances I doubt those samples were actually clean.. but of course can’t change the rules 🤷‍♂️
