That was some serious crash. Gronevegen channeled his inner Cavendish stupidity there. There was a photographer completely obliterated by Jacobsen :( Eurosport were showing slow motions. Imagine if there were more people at the finish like a usual race. I don't see that much of a problem with finish, it was just Gronevegens moronic behavior. He very much knew and saw Jacobsen going inside with a higher speed and deliberately blocked him to get the win. It could have been a 30 metre wide road and he could have done just the same...

Yep, this was sort of a Theo Bos in Turkey move.

Info from the interview with the doctor of the race by Polsat Sport:

- there was a problem to intubate beacuse of the huge throat damage and strong bleeding

- he was given the oxygene as well as all other needed medicine

- the heart was working well

- no chest injury

- the biggest problem is "skull and brain"

- his life is in danger

About the judge: he has a head injury and maybe also neck spine, but he was conscious, he was talking.

Plus 'his palate was crushed'. I did not even know that was possible, damn.

Understandable to react out of emotion and adrenaline, but a bit of a disappointment a federation does so (not the tweet, but the statement).

I wonder how many people voluntarily go and watch that knowing his life is still in danger. The TV director showing replays (multiple, from all kinds of angles) within minutes, while there were and still are fears for his life, was just disgusting. That person needs to be fired, if you don't know how to do a job (and it is a rather universal thing in sports to not show these kind of replays until more is known about someone's condition), do something else.

    • It's hard to believe it was still in this calendar year
    • In last year, we were were happy with Brignone's wins, and today we're excite that della Mea is in the top 10... It's hard to imagine a bigger fall... And Goggia should give up on the giant slalom and focus on the speed events – Vonn isn't wasting time on the giant slalom, but is training for downhill and SG. Goggia last one finished on the podium in the giant slalom in march 2018, and she has no any chance of winning an Olympic medal at the regular competition. It's a waste of time and energy to finish 8th or 9th and risk injury. And we have to accept that without Brignone, we have no chance of winning a medal in the giant slalom in Cortina, and that's it.
    • yeah, just like Anna Trocker earlier Today   I think this is the best way to blow them    they're not ready for the world cup stage yet, but we're so bad right now that our coaches are digging deep
    • Some surprises and fun results so far at this year's Worlds. Like a few minutes ago, when  Harrysson made the 1/8 with another very good performance. Now he plays Jonny Clayton, who this afternoon made a stellar performance in a tough battle with Zonneveld. I don't see an easy match for Clayton, even though on paper he would have wished such an opponent for a 1/8 before the tournament.   Also i'm delighted that my fav Gary Anderson seems to be in good form, though at his age, he is prone to sudden bad matches at any time.
