The funny thing is... 4 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze isn't a terrible projection for . I mean, it does seem like a repeat of Tokyo with slightly less medals, but that's plausible IF they assume that Milák will return.

Definitely not mine - they are from Gracenote Nielsen. They release a virtual medal table for every Olympic and with it being a year until Paris, this is their initial projections. Normally they will release a new version each month in the run up to the games.

The battle for the 10th spot at the medal table will be wild between South Korea, Canada, Brazil, Spain (and maybeee Hungary or Turkey?). But I think Canada, South Korea and Brazil are the favorites to achieve this achievement. 

 

According to Grace Note projection:

 

 9 Gold - 6 Silver - 9 Bronze - 24 Total

 8 Gold - 7 Silver - 14 Bronze - 29 Total

 7 Gold - 4 Silver - 15 Bronze - 26 Total

 4 Gold - 7 Silver - 10 Bronze - 21 Total

 

But honestly, I don't see 29 medals coming for maybe somewhere between 20 and 25 medals.

Their predictions are based on previous results, richer nations tend to compete more often in world cups/series events so their rankings are inflated.
