The knockout system is much more interesting, than the normal one. I don't know why, they still don't use it in more events. At least in the so-called "mini tours" or the Raw Air. And the normal system can be used for the individual WC starts, which are not affiliated with a bigger classification.

Think they want to keep it as exclusive for the Four Hills.  I suppose they want each of the “special” events lto have their own individual identity - so for Raw Air it is that Every Jump Counts etc.  Otherwise it would just be the same thing 27 times.

Maybe Evel Kneivel-style jumping over Monster Trucks for the Las Vegas World Cup?  Just trying to come up with ideas here!  :coffee:

But don't we have the same thing 27 times in the current way. :d I'm suggesting to make it at least 17-10.

I'm all in, in having more variety in the starts. Why don't make a full knockout start with a tennis bracket? The qualifications are mostly useless, so why not use them to make a top 32 bracket in some events and have a knockout competition over 2 days. Have 4 such weekends in a season, one in each month and have a small globe for the jumper with the most points from the 4 competitions.

So... How many athletes have won all four hills in one calendar year? Kobayashi just completed that now. :d

Sven Hannawald 2002

Fifth consecutive Four Hills competition win for Kobayashi

Maybe he just confirmed the statistics :p

All athletesletes that won the Four Hills with a Grand Slam have a strikes of 5 wins in a row (Hannawald in 2001/2002, Stoch in 2017/2018 and now Kobayashi)

Because it's cool if something like the Four Hills has it's own unique thing and it gets a whole lot less special when more and more events use it, especially all those rip-offs like RAW Air.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
