Like if there was state sponsored doping in the West it would be announced or prosecuted. :d

The Comcast & Nike sponsorships serve as the West's state doping. Just ask Kara Goucher what she really thinks about NOP :p Oh, wait... she already said what she thinks about it :roflmao:

I always find it hilarious that a country which gave us Ben Johnson is calling out people on applying doping standards ;)

Before you say another morone thing, please, consider the fact, there is a country gave that gave us both Wałęsa and Kaczyński.

I know the entire Canada would like to pretend Ben Johnson never existed but he's with you to stay forever :yes

So what is your advice how to deal with the findings that Russia run state sponsored doping over years and years and mocked the evidence when the WADA was investigating? Ignore it because there might be other cheaters from - what you call - the Western world?

It's not what should be done about Russia - because that's been done already - but what to do with other cheaters. Kenya is obviously #1 target going forward.

As long as Justin Gatlin continues to profit from his Nike sponsorship and remains eligible for Olympic Games I'm gonna call WADA and IOC over these double standards and hypocrisy over and over again.

You are mixing your cocktail of Ben Johnson, Justin Gatlin, the GDR, Kenya and NIKE in order to "prove" that some "Western World" countries is as bad as the Russian state doping. That's some nice mix of whataboutism and reframing the initial discussion.

Because the discussion isn't about the Russian punishment. That's being done already. I said before Comcast which sponsors the shady Team Sky cycling team among others is wealthier than the likes of Kenya and Ethiopia and it's the main financial backer of the IOC due to the NBC Universal deal, so yeah, it IS state doping-like if you're taking so much money from Comcast and look away to what the likes of Gatlin have done in terms of doping.

As an olympic freak I must admit that hosting olympics in Poland would be my big dream coming true.

I will try to dicuss here whether it has any chance to happen. How would it look like.

I know many contrary arguments against it but I will try to look on the bright side of life here :-))))))

To begin with I will say that I always thought that withdrawing our Kraków / Zakopane (and with a liitle help from our Slovak friends from Poprad) 2022 Winter Olympics Candidacy was not a good idea. Although I know we would probably lose to Beijing on this matter. At least I hope we will host FIS Nordic Skiing World Championships in Zakopane and ISU Figure Skating World Championships in Kraków in near (post-covid) future.

I remember when @OlympicsFan said that only certain countries should be allowed to host the olympics. Others are too small or too poor.

It may be true.

Well, we may not be rich enough now.

But we are talking about 2036 here.

I wish all the best to this country and I hope things will get better until then.

And are we really too small ?

Well - AUS, BEL, SWE, GRE, NED, FIN have smaller populations than us and they hosted the summer games before. Yes, I know some of them did it 100 years ago, but still...

So I think it is worth trying. Let AUS have its Queensland 2032 games and then come to Poland. :-))))

The bad thing to start with is that our National Stadium in Warsaw was built before EURO 2012 and it is simply a football stadium, without an athletics track. So it would have to be rebuilt to begin with.

And EURO 2012 was a very successfull event, I really liked it, and I think PL showed that it was able to host big events. I remember how Warsaw looked like in the semifinal ITA vs GER day and I want to see something like that again. And by the way, watching Mario Balotelli goals from the stands was real fun, I liked this game very much.

But back to business - I really hope you will see the games in my country one day.

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
    • c'mon, guys! relax! sciallatevi un po'!    you're making me sick...it's just the season start and this is a sport where only the world championship (and Olympic, in the specific years) medals count   don't get mad for a couple of races held thousend miles away from home after the team had already passed their first climax (the internal selection)...there are still 2 full seasons before the Olympics
    • Super Round Results   21/11    b.   2-0  b.   9-1   22/11    b.   8-2  b.   9-6   nothing is decided yet, all teams still have a thoretical chance to make the Gold Medal match   Tomorrow, the last day of the Super Round sees  facing the  at Noon local time (4 a.m. CET) and  facing  at 7 p.m. local time (11 a.m. CET)   the medal games are scheduled for Sunday, BMM at Noon local, GMM at 7 p.m. local
    • very poor performance by the US bullpen both Yesterday and Today    not very impressed by this US team for the entire tournament, also in the Mexican first group (Panama deserved to qualify more than them, but they were lucky with the draw and won the decisive direct matchup)   Venezuela confirmed themselves as a very strong team at bat, but with too many troubles on the mound   Today against Japan they had to make a pitching change already in the 1st inning and basically they had to go for a bullpen game, but it didn't come out like the Dodgers'   Japan always on top of their game, even when the pitching staff doesn't perform at best...frankly, they look more and more unbeatable when no MLB superstar is involved (like in this case), but also when it comes down to the top of the pops it's not that they look worse (see 2023 WBC)  there's a serious risk that their domination becomes even too easy, the gap between them and the rest of the world is widening year after year   Taiwan might look like a surprise, but after the 2023 fail, I was sure they were going to rebound and establish themselves among the top teams in the WBSC tournaments, as they are very good in each and every aspect of the game (batting, pitching...maybe a bit less on defense, but you can't have it all)
