Well breaking was the only really controversial, and as far as I know it will not come back in LA.

Re Skateboarding I don't see if snowboarding can be at the winter Olympics why cannot be skateboarding in the summer one. So I am ok with this one (moreover I like to watch it haha)

Surfing and sport climbing are even more "legit" than skateboarding.

It will be more interesting what attitude will the eventual IOC president show towards a Saudi/Qatari/Emirati OG.

Hopefully at least for 2036 this bullet can be dodged.

On the other hand those hosts at least would build a decent olympic village with air conditioning 😁 😁 😁

What do you think about an incorporation of the E-sports to the olympic program?

The biggest hurdle for esports is creating a unifying sports federation. The scene is way too fragmented plus you have the issue of video game companies wanting a say on how their games are represented. It's just not worth the headache at this point.

We will also have to have a shift of acceptance towards "mind sports" like chess which is already a huge hurdle for some people.

Southeast Asians already had this thing as medal event since 2019. The game titles keep changing except Mobile Legends which is basically the opium of the youth in this region.

I am glad that they don’t have a proper united world federation and IOC decided to create a separate event for this.

But hey we don’t know what kind of U-Turn IOC would do, so my only wish is that the IOC include it in the Olympic Games programme after I am no longer around so I don’t have to cope with it

It won't happen imo (at least for the forseeable future). The new E Sports Olympics the IOC created would otherwise be useless.

any names of possible succesors??

If they want a woman, I'll bet on Nicole Hoevertsz. She became very important under the Bach's reign.

For me this will mean the end of olympics. BTW, is there aby chance to let Guadeloupe, Martinique, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Curacao etc have their chance to compete on equal basis as Bermuda etc?

The position of Curaçao is explained at the Wikipedia page about the Netherlands Antilles Olympic Committee. The Dutch Wikipedia states that the IOC gave a way out, but that possibility was torpoed by the then PM of the Netherlands Antilles who chose to litigate.

Yes, i know this status. St. Martin, Sint Marten etc. I rather wonder if IOC could open the 2nd window to federations not being indenpendent countries once again. Such entities could have chosen to compete, maybe now some other would also have that chance. Curacao too. Let's say those which have 5 active disciplines (federations).

    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
