After over an hour of chit-chat, :SEN Dakar has now officially been confirmed as host of the 2022 Youth Olympics.

(Not really a surprise, as they were the only candidate)

Senegal's President, Macky Sall, says the country are set to construct a 50,000 capacity Olympic Stadium, as well as renovating another stadium.

My reaction to this idea:

Have Senegal struck gold? :d And money for the workers from where? On the other hand those workers probably won't get paid, so it's possible.

According to Lydia Nsekera, a member of the FIFA Council, and candidate for the Presidency of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), believes that this event will be continent-wide and other nations will "chip in" to help Senegal.

China will most likely build the stadium. They have just built a 20’000 seat Wrestling Stadium in Senegal https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/largest-in-africa-chinese-built-wrestling-stadium-helps-senegal-promote-national-sport.568922/

This is very common across most sporting events in developing countries and often comes with unusual loan structures, for example Angola’s Chinese built stadiums are paid off by oil exports and other smaller stadiums are gifted by the Chinese government. It’s very controversial though!

They do it so countries will recognize then as the legitimate China and not (in my political opinion) the real China (Taiwan or Republic of China)

Nah, they have another objective... It's very hard for me explain it in English, but I will try.

China starts a massive founding in Africa and they have economical agreement with 53 African states (only South Africa is excluded) and it's part of the new silk road.

China gave without any problems money to the African states with a low interest rate (around 0) but they colonize and corrupt the African agricolture system. The biggest problem is that the Chinese population want eat different foods (Mao's time when the population was content with only rice are finished) so they start the agricultural policy of monoculture and buy African products at low price. Basically they destroy all African's chance to develope in agricolture and start a new colonization.

Welcome in the 2018, an amazing wold with too much geopolitical interests.

PS. (This is a simplification, I can't do more with my English :p)

    • Greece and Portugal also have winter sports centres - but of course these are not homologated routes for World Cup competitions I have never been to Albania personally, so I don't know the country at all. I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
