Budapest, Hungary - been asleep, they have hardly gotteen out of bed and have just formed a committee to do a “feasability study”. Too little, too late for 2032

 

Rhine-Rhur, Germany - lots of infighting, does not have their own government support for the bid and the majority of their own citizens are against the bid. Now because they do not understand the new bidding rules and now they have started a fight with the IOC.  This bid is a real mess and no chance for 2032.  2036 is a priblem too as it is 100 years after the Nazi-run  Games of 1936 - something which will weigh against them for 2036.

 

Qatar - not a chance.  New IOC rules require the Summer Games must be held in July/August. That eliminates Qatar straight away way too hot for the many Olympic outdoor sports and spectators. 

 

 

I wish the other bidders well for next time and I am sure each of the rivals bidders will be better prepared next time.

 

 

India has recently started to harbour ambitions of hosting the Olympics probably 2036 hence. Is IOC too firm on Jul-Aug window, so will this go against India's bid as its the monsoon season. Sporting events in India are typically held in Nov-Dec or Feb-Mar

Don't think anyone will want India to host after the shitshow the 2010 Commonwealth Games were. The Olympics are double the size.

On one hand, I could see it as a "Look how far we've come as a species!" sort of thing.  On the other hand, I doubt the IOC, and Germany specifically, want to focus so much on "Hey, we're not the Nazis anymore!"

Sad the IOC is relegated on settling on cities like Brisbane. Good for then however for being proactive about it and getting the IOC to commit.

Exactly.  A few years back they said they would not look at bids from second-string cities, they only wanted big global mega cities.  Well, how's that working out?

Certain large but provincial cities in major traditional 'markets' will look on the Brisbane decision with excitement - in GB, the obvious candidates Birmingham and Manchester, possibly the North East and Glasgow will suddenly feel it is possible. Likewise large cities in Germany that are not Munich or Berlin. Spain and Madrid might be less happy with a perceived opening up of the field.

 

Of course, the silly thing is Barcelona showed just how an Olympics can elevate a 'second' city - the IOC should never have been so silly in the first place. But then, that's on a loop, isn't it.
