Sion 2026 isn't sure yet about where to have the speed skating, there are several options ranging from a temporary venue (they don't want to build anything that's not being used after the Olympics) to.......going to the Netherlands :d (which I guess should obviously be Thialf in Heerenveen)

Old news. Second post of this thread :raspberry:

Anyway, at that point, Sion 2026 looks very much in Jeopardy. Unfortunatly.

  • 2 weeks later...

The Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI)  has informed the International Olympic Committee of its desire to proceed with the Dialogue Phase for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, CONI expressed this intention in a letter, declaring the candidatures of the City of Milan/Turin. (both ? only one? :mumble: )

CONI is awaiting the formation of the new government to which, adhering to the times and methods agreed, it shall present a feasibility study, already completed at the beginning of 2018, for a comprehensive evaluation of the entire project, which could benefit the whole of Italy,

Apparently they want advice from the IOC. But given the ceremonies would be in Milan I guess it would have to be branded as such.

I actually think this is a very agenda 2020 friendly bid concept and I kinda like it.

I actually wouldn't mind Erzurum (provided they have a compact plan and not that "let's have venues spread out over hundreds of kilometers" nonsense)...

But anything except Sapporo would be fine I guess.

Agreed. And the only reason I'm 'against' Sapporo is not because it's Sapporo, but because of having enough Asian Olympics for now. If Pyeongchang 2018 and Beijing 2022 wouldn't have gone in front of them, I'd have liked each and every candidate :)

I hope Sapporo perfects their plans for 2030 or (if Lillehammer enters the 2030-race) 2034 :cheer:
