I guess they don't wanna really increase number of competitors in each event.

Why not? Quota system is more for control a total number of athletes starting at the OG, not number of athletes in each competition ;)

Wow. Gold for Herzog.  Never expected this. So we won the medal in the event where it was least likely.

Really crazy result for a 19 year old girl who is still going to school. Germany has a realistic shot at medalling in all events except men's K1 in Tokyo (if Anton qualifies).

Germany has a realistic chance to medal in K1 as well. Aigner missed the final because he touched one gate, otherwise he would have only have been 0,88 seconds behind in the semis. It's an extremely close Competition.

No double quota in men's, right?

Definitely not. The competition is male events is so high that nobody could handle competing in both events at a top level.

Sadly, that doesn't prevent ICF from hiding all information like they usually do. For example, I think we still don't know which sprint quota Spain declined (they had to decline one).

They’ve been pretty good about sharing quota updates with the media. I’ll share anything I get

Herzog must be doping, how can 19 year old win a medal!?

/sarcasm

To be honest if i would be canadian i would be more worried about some no name 19 year old girl (MacNeil) dropping a crazy amount of time to win gold in a sport that is notorious for doping or guys (Dunfee, De Grasse) winning medals in events that have half a dozen doping cases every year than about a girl winning a medal in a sport that has like one doping case every decade ... but maybe that is just the german school system speaking out of me (i am not sure how familiar canadian people are with the concept of probability, but most educated people would agree that someone doing well in a sport with a huge doping tradition is more likely to be doped than someone who is doing well in a sport with almost no doping tradition)?

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
