Cool, thank you. I think I would come one weekend to watch the matches, maybe extend couple more days, hopefully my employer lets me 😃😃. Are you coming to watch the tournament??

I think I will because the tournament is at the same time of Asian Games in Hangzhou just 200km away. I think I will spend a couple of days in Beilun to watch it while I will spend majority of time in Hangzhou to watch Asian Games.

Yeah, I forgot about that. I will come to watch Asian Games as well. Looking forward to that. Maybe we can contact each other while coming for a visit. Are you gonna work there? Or being a volunteer? I applied to be a volunteer there long time ago, haven't received a decision yet.

I am gonna just be a full time spectator and I am worried about the accommodation fee at the National Day holiday in Hangzhou. :facepalm:Keep in touch if we are in Hangzhou or Beilun at that time.

  • 4 months later...

New expectations and prognosis about our OQT - 1.5 wins in 7 matches  If we manage to beat Mexico and +/- China and not be last in the group. Let everyone else fight it at the top.

Leal will not compete in the tournament due to health problems. Now we only have Lucarelli in the OH position, as the others are useless. :d

Honestly, it's a great opportunity for Iran, Germany or Cuba to win the second quota.

Didn't know Canada had slipped behind Cuba in the rankings. Their place at the OG doesn't seem so sure now. Will the matches from the OQT count towards the rankings?

of course it does count, only two ranking tournaments are left, this and VNL next year

both Canada and Cuba are not in top 11 at the moment. that's the minimum you need to qualify. even 11th might not be enough but we will know for sure after the qualifiers. (if any low rank teams qualify directly or not)

and it's always possible to re-add Russia somewhere before the Olympics. yeah I know unlikely but not impossible

Yeah, i forgot that the rankings berths are not for all continents by default. If USA is 1-2 in the OQT, then NA won't automatically get another quota from the rankings.

our federation apparently doesn't know that. they still think if Japan qualify directly (which is possible since they are playing great) we can qualify no matter what.

in a suicidal decision, we are going to send our A team to the Asian Games and the same team will fly half the world to Brazil to play in the OQT only couple of days later.

no, Russia will not be reinstated in any case

if the Russian athletes will be allowed to compete in Paris (and it's still a big "if"), it will be only and exclusively in the individual events (even the relays in those sports are not included)

there's no chance they will be in Paris in any team sport (and team events in individual sports)

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
    • Here's my calculations of the quotas. I believe you are correct about Italy having 3 quotas in men's singles.   Men's Singles   3 Quotas: 2 Quotas: 1 Quota:   data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAPABAP///wAAACH5BAEKAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAICRAEAOw==   Women's Singles   3 Quotas: 2 Quotas: 1 Quota:     Men's Doubles   2 Quotas: 1 Quota:     Women's Doubles   1 Quota:
