I guess not. It was a political thing. SFRY benefited a lot from being non aligned. Quality of life was artificially high because we were receiving many loans from USA, IMF, Soviet Union. Having a game organised in some NA country was a IOC compromise between two superpowers and that wouldnt be possible without high loanes. Strictly ecconomically, it was a disaster because our country struggled financially since 1975, and situation in 1983 was dramatically bad. If SFRY had any benefit from Games, it was only about few athletes that became heroes. We didnt earmed a dime. Of course, i can say this based on some books and papers, as i wasnt borned back then. I think that majority of venues were damaged or destroyed. Situation has improved but luge/skeleton/bob track is still unusable, same goes for ski jumping.
