I just read that they missed semifinal being slower than South Africa just by 0,02 seconds :hairpull::facepalm::cry::drama::wacko:

To be honest we did not have a big upsets yet in olympic period.  But we have a hard days now - rowing with one quota and zero from wrestling possible.

I think Poland is getting stronger and stronger. You are on the way to host Olympic Games sooner or later

About hosting, maybe it will happen, but in next 100 years.

Good results in the preliminary round for our 10 desired Olympic boats. Only the Men Eight expected more. The Dutch federation did everything possible for a gold medal for the Men's Eight, but we were just over 2 seconds behind GB today. Sometimes it seems as if the Men's Eight is the only thing that counts in the Netherlands, because we accidentally won Olympic gold in 1996. I'm very happy with every boat that qualifies for the Olympics and even happier with every medal.

Women's Quadruple Sculls

Well, if we qualify all four of our pairs and both singles, we still match our 10 quotas from last Olympics :p

The quadruple men don't look that strong, wouldn't put my money on them at the Olympic qualifier tournament, but still surprised why we didn't attempt to enter the women's quadruple skulls, when we have a full team sitting this event out after successful World & European U23's

So I did this exercise of trying to rank every boat's form coming into these champs. I did this last year for myself and well it wasn't particularly accurate in terms of trying to predict results but hopefully offers some perspective on where boats might finish and expectations for number of Olympic qualifiers. > means I think a given boat will finish higher than where I have ranked them and < means I think it will actually finish lower than where it is ranked here.

Anyone know why Japan withdrew all their boats except for their single scullers. I assume it is Asian games related but the likes of their W4- would have at least been competitive here

update?

The Danish pair was unlucky as well as Lærke was hit by glandular fever shortly before the Worlds :(

Felt like they should be an Olympic contender, but not with that kind of luck.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
