Hope the cut doesnt prevent smaller nations in Oceania from qualifying like they used to do does it also mean they will allow one athlete per nation in each category? EselTheDonkey 713 Posted November 3, 2017 #74 Share Posted November 3, 2017 IAAF seems to completely change their qualification system. They will introduce a new World Ranking List which will be important for qualifying: https://www.iaaf.org/news/press-release/iaaf-official-world-rankings

The rankings will give more points to certain events, but if the Diamond League (where certain athletes are invited, with many from the host countries) are given a high points weighting then that will corrupt the whole qualification system and seriously disadvantage athletes from smaller nations. amen09 and konig
dcro 10,186 Posted November 3, 2017 #76 Share Posted November 3, 2017 Rankings always put those with smaller resources in a disadvantage, and therefore should be avoided whenever possible... #banbestmen

Especially in sports like Athletics where there are many more competitions in Europe/North America than other parts of the world with a higher ranking status including the Diamond League, IAAF Label Road Races and combined event challenge. amen09
