Can’t believe @brunamoura didn’t make the list. I can’t think of a bigger biathlon star (at least on the forum)...

That's kind of you ?

But I can imagine that my name isn't there for two reasons:

1- no World Cups for me yet;

2- my federation didn't take my name off IBU's system yet so, for IBU, I am still an active athlete. CBDN wants me to do some races for them next season even if my focus is on cross country from now on because every start of mine will give them money and equipments from IBU. First they put only one stage in my schedule (Orsblie), as I don't want to do Biathlon next season for "x" reasons, we were negotiation to remove it (maybe I would have no choice, otherwise they wouldn't support me for the cross country season) but a few days later they also added the Open Europeu in my schedule! I already said that I am not going to start, but still they didn't remove it. There will be a meeting at CBDN next week to talk about the next season and its needed changes due to coronavirus and after that someone will call me so we can talk about my schedule.

A bit of a suprise to see Torstein Stenersen is no longer part of the A-National Team. Not that he produced any great results in the WC last season. But leaving him out of the team entirely, comes as a suprise to me.

Apparently, Wikipedia has him in the retired section, so perhaps that's why :p

Although an article I've google translated from Swedish just said that he's kicked from the A team and nothing about his retirement.

Now I'm curious. I've thrown out a virtual fishing line, let's see if we catch ourselves an answer :p

I can only find this about him.

https://www.svt.se/sport/skidskytte/torstein-stenersen-petadurlandslaget

Nothing about him retiring from biathlon.

Also, was this the article you found @Werloc?

Yup, that's why I'm not particularly trusting Wikipedia, unless Stenersen himself updated that page :p

 I have checked his Instagram and he hasn't posted anything about his retirement. I have no idea why his Wiki says something about retirement? :d

    • Another heart breaking result   I'm resigned to see them competing at next's years IIB
    • The problem is XD is a fun event, but its essentially a social event, and lags far behind the others both at Grand Slams and Olympics - no quotas of its own, very limited prize money - as the indivisual Olympic tennis has got more and more important, the top players have limited thhier doubles participation to the main M and W D.   a team format, however, gets some fo that BJK/Davis cup magic, and because it'll b enovel, they can REALLY mess around with it - for example, a three set match could consists of MS first set, WS second and, if needed mixed doubles decider - light work load and quick competition. could play three matches a day if needed   Would not be incredibly shocked if BOTH golf and tennis adopted a quickfire 'Olympic' format - Singles, singles, doubles - (In golf it would be 9 hole matchplay with sets replaced with 9 hole matches, and the order men's indi, women's indi, mixed foursome   On Compound, nice to see it but odd too for GB - Ella Gibson is one of the outstanding shooters of her time, but GBR don't seem to have a male compound shooter worth a candle   On voluntary team sports (Flag football, cricket, lacrosse) I smell a rankings heavy approach with continental rep limited to 3 - though they may be real sneaky with cricket and go host (USA), Euro 1(GBR), Oceania 1(Aus), Asia (1)(India) Africa 1(South Africa) and Final Qualifier 1, heavily loaded with Asia and West Indies individual teams, perhaps Ireland and New Zealand for the appearance of balance.   The Iroquois question still unresolved. GBR would be a rankings pick in everything bar men's flag football   Wonder about the Team gymnastics - Super quick fire high peril format maybe of just one gymnast per apparatus, with the floor and vault reserved to the women so each sex provide only 4 scores - would make it feel different to the existing team events, and make USA a less guaranteed gold. Qualifiation by highest score in overall Q in each event - even if that score comes from same athlete in multiple events

    • https://worldboxing.org/ioc-confirms-gender-parity-in-boxing-at-la28-with-seven-weight-classes-for-both-men-and-women/       Well I didn't see this coming but eh world boxing have gotten rid of men's flyweight!!!!! Non Olympics weights are now 50kg, 75kg and 85kg for the men and 48kg, 80kg and 80+kg for the women. I think it is good news that they haven't added womens heavyweight but men's flyweight being gone is a shocker especially for "smaller" nations. In Rio like we had both 49 and 52kg below 56kg but now flyweight is gone completely. I mean it is tricky to have 10 weightclasses and then have only 7 for the Olympics and for both the 10 and the 7 to be evenly spaced out but like im very surprised that its flyweight thats gone and not one of 55,60,65kg. To be honest selfishly from an Irish perspective at least for this cycle I don't hate it but flyweight was one of the most competitive divisions so it being gone will hurt the weaker (well i couldn't make the small joke twice) boxing countries.   Just for context the Paris weights were (M51, M57, M63.5, M71, M80, M92 and M92+ and then W50, W54, W57, W60, W66, W75)
    • results are being posted now dimitris pavlidis of greece 63.55
    • That's why they only offered 750 points to the winner as an initial compromise. If you were the 4th/5th best player in your nation and were not selected due to NOC limits and you cared about points you would be better off competing at a different event at the same time. With a depleted field you'd likely earn more points there anyway.   It was more because ATP/WTA tournaments held at the same time were losing out on players and thus attendance for the tournaments were low.
