How Many Medals do You Expect from Your Nation at the Summer Olympic Games 2020? (2019 version)

Recommended Posts

CZECH REPUBLIC:

Shooting - 3 medals (Nepejchal, Mazurová, Kostelecký)
Canoe slalom - 2 medals (Prskavec, Fišerová)
Tennis - 2 medals (Kvitová, Vondroušová, maybe something in doubles like Strýcová, Siniaková, Krejčíková...)
Beach Volleyball - 1 medal (Sluková/Hermannová)

Rowing - 1 medal (Synek or Knapková-Topinková)

Canoeing - 3 medals (Dostál, Fuksa, ...)

Athletics - 1 medal (someone at javelin throw - Ogrodníková, Špotáková, Vadlejch)
... and maybe someone will can suprise (Choupenitch, Beran - fencing, Krpálek - judo, Kuf - modern pentathlon, and so on...)

I expect 13 medals. :D

:SVK as usual something from ZERO to 6 (optimistic), more likely 3 or 4.

I think we can expect at least one medal from our traditionally strong Olympic sports like Canoe Slalom M C1 or Canoeing Sprint M K4. + returning home without at least one medal in Shotgun would be certainly considered like a fiasco. and Matej Tóth should be if he´ll avoid injuries or health problems during the preparation one of the medal contenders in the last historic 50k official farewell

and we still somehow hope and believe that Sagan will finally complete his titles.

0 to 5.

No one is certain of a medal but the following are currently ranked top 5 in their respective sports/events:

Hockey M & W, Judo W -48, Sailing Nacra, Swimming W 1500FR.

There is also outside chances in the following:

Rugby 7 M, Shooting skeet M, Sailing Finn, Taekwondo M -58.

I would include Del Potro here but he got injured again (I'm sure he will make another glorious comeback though).

1 to 5 as always , our best shots will be in weightlifting ehab and Sara and in Karate i expect us to win a medal or 2 there + other contenders in shooting , modern pentathlon , Taekwondo , Swimming maybe Farida Osman can do something big there , outsiders will be in fencing but i really doubt it , equesterian i had a feeling that Nayel Nassar can do something big , but ofc it's really hard for him to get on the podium , wrestling will be another outsider with judo , not really confident about our participation in Tokyo , but let's see what it will bring

After 3 brilliant Olympics in a row I predict a major decrease in medals for Great Britain.

I think around 45 medals will be won with the number of golds being cut to 12 or 13,

Currently i don't know what to expect

post olympic year was great, 2018 so so, now we have some injuries....so i need to wait summer world championships to see what we can expect

Archery: 1/2 medals (Nespoli and/or mixed team)

Athletics: 1 medal (Race walk)

Boxing: 0/2 medals

Canoeing slalom: 1 medal (Stefanie Horn)

Cycling road: 1 medal (men's road race)

Cycling track: 3/4 medals

Mountainbike: 0/1 medal (Gerard Kerschbaumer)

Equestrian: 0/1 medal (team jumping or team evenint)

Fencing: 4/5 medals

Golf: 0/1 medal (Molinari)

Rhythmic gymnastics: 1 medal (group event)

Artistic gymnastics: 0/1 medal (Lodadio, Ferrari)

Judo: 0/2 medals

Rowing: 3/5 medals

Sailing: 0/2 medals

Shooting: 4 medals

Swimming: 4/9 medals

Taekwondo: 0/1 medal (Vito dell'Aquila)

Volleyball: 0/2 medals

Water polo: 2/2 medals

Wrestling: 1 medal

Suprise medal: 3/5

Total: 29

Very very optimist total: 51

Decrease, sadly yes, but hopefully you'll be wrong about "major". :p

I noticed there also isn't any serbia post in the previous thread, don't be shy.

I'll try:

Water polo M

Volleyball W (men outside chance)

Djokovic

Basketball M (women outside chance)

Basketball 3x3 M

Kayak K2-1000 & K1-200 men, K1-200, K1-500 & K2-500 women

Judo Men -90

Wrestling (Stefanek, Nemes, Kajala)

TKD women -49, +67

Karate kumite women -61

Shooting pistol 10m men, women, mixed

Athletics women long jump

I don't know if I missed anything (maybe rowing?). Serbia should really win at least 10 with this chances, most of them are pretty solid.

you overrestimate us in canoeing.........everything more or less realistic is there

some of these performed quite bad (taekwondo)

maybe some surprise can come from Micic (freestyle wrestling), women's 50m rifle 3 positions and women's c-1 200m in canoeing

and i hope Gejo in sports climbing can improve after injury (however this would be ''surprise'')

and my big wish and something very very optimistic to be surprise: women's handball :d
