We won due to having the most boundaries which is the next tie-breaker

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

...they should really address how they break ties in cricket.

Why? If it was a three, four or five day match it would stand as a tie. However, a knockout one day match has to have a winner so they introduced the super over to try and resolve ties. If it still level after the extra over there has to be a tie-breaker. Awarding it to the team who has scored the most boundaries (4s and 6s) is rewarding the team who has played the most positive, attacking cricket. Can you suggest a better way?

for sure, they should play at least a second (and maybe even a third) super-over (with mandatory different bowlers and at least one different batsman in the partnership in each of those super-overs)...

then, and only then, they can go down to other kind of tie-breakers (and I agree that the most boundaries criteria is probably the best one you can choose)...

by the way, now this CWC has gone...those are just ideas for the future...

and wow! what a final it's been...:yikes:

I'm exhausted (and my heart is bleeding for the Kiwis)...

the Gods of Cricket are certainly from England...

NZL didn't have their best offensive inning, but their bowlers were (or, at least, looked) in control for most of the second inning...when zac! 2 of the luckiest sixes ever gave England a chance...

and also in the super-over NZL were kind of betrayed by their supposed best bowler, Trent Boult, who gave up 15 runs in 6 balls...probably they should have used Colin de Grandhomme, who today was actually the most effective among the NZL bowlers...:mumble:

Why is it called a World Cup anyway? There's nobody from outside the Commonwealth even playing this sport? :mumble:

it's a world cup because there are teams from all around the world...Europe, Asia, Africa, Americas, Oceania...

actually, Cricket is one of the few team sports where you can find at least 1 top team from each of the 5 Continents...

p.s. maybe the level is not so good as it is in the main Countries of the sport, but Cricket is played regularly also outside the Commonwealth Nations...;)

This should be called British Empire Games at best   The last true relict of the colonial era. Irrelevant sport nobody pays attention to IMO.

Again, British Empire is no longer the world. Hell, badminton is more popular than cricket but the numbers are skewed since these sports are popular in some of the most populous countries in the world. Cricket isn't a global sport, it's a big fish in a very, very small pond. Why would they reduce the number of teams taking part in World Cup in first place if it's so popular? :mumble:
