Yes, this is a big support for LGBT community.  Also there you can have a contact with psychologist. Poland has has a big problem with tolerance recently.

Countries much worse than Poland always sort these during events. In the Russia World Cup there wasn't any talk about homophobia, or any other issue with Russia. Even during the Berlin 1936 the Nazis removed all anti-Semitic signage in the city because they knew foreign journalists would be there. Any problem with LGBT will be pushed under the carpet while the games are in town

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

This support is prepared by a large city by local authorities. Important domestic politicians say LGBT it's an ideology. However, people affected by the problem of homelessness may benefit from help here after coming out. Fortunately, it is better here than in Russia or Muslim countries. However, much remains to be done, unfortunately there is no chance of marital equality. There is no chance of a Gender Correction Act. There is no chance of partnerships. And people are scared of LGBT people. There is no chance of banning conversion therapy.   https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/amp/world-europe-53039864

Big support among the youths - who happen to be the least reliable group of voters. As long as Civic Platform is too scared to upset the conservatives nothing will change - and that's gonna take a loooong time. Besides, EG will happen before the next elections so obviously nobody will give a damn about LGBT. Poland ain't USA or Netherlands after all.

Maybe someday teenager will have easier life, can be who they want to be and live in more tolerant country. Where love is a love, can marry someone who they loved and they won't be afraid of homophopic country.  Probably Poland need more than 20 years to do that.

20 years at the very least. Even the hard-left got upset recently their press speaker focuses too much on the ideological stuff and removed her from office. You could have had hope with Biedron but he got what he wanted - a fat salary as MEP - and doesn't seem to care much about Polish internal politics anymore. He's gone very quiet during the pandemic period compared to his rants before he got elected to European Parliament :coffee:

Ugh, I was pretty pleased with the sports program up to now. Glad to see shooting back once more.

Do we really need the European Games? Would a better option not be to build on the European Championships which took place in Berlin and Glasgow in 2018?

That is the “great debate” at present, but it’s not like the European Championships haven’t been without their struggles either. No swimming in 2022, and it did seem like there wasn’t many federations interested in joining when organizers went looking for some sports to add to the program.

Personally, I’ve enjoyed both editions of the European Games. Of course, they have a plethora of problems too.

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
