we had the first huge huge upset of the tournament,  Venezuela knocked out one of the favorites Spain by a late goal.    VEN advanced to the KO round as the 4th third-place team with -6 GD

not really, there are some guys here and there still keeping the embassy in this and that country or the UN but there is nothing left of that previous government which was weak and corrupt and gave up

There will be a very weak semifinalist while at least 2 strong teams will leave in Round of 16.

 

 

FIFA should revise this bracket set up or stop giving hosting rights to very weak nations.

If you've always watched things like football World Cup and Euros and such, but never futsal, this is such an oddly interesting thing to follow :d 

 

As a total noob, I was assuming kind of similar countries as in football would do good, and partially that is correct, but here we have the first knockout round set after today and I see Costa Rica, Ukraine, Venezuela, Paraguay, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Thailand.....cool :d

both Iran and France wanted to lose. the match was very very ugly. 

 

the first half finished 0-0. France had zero shot on goal. Iran tried couple of shots . one of them was serious

 

but then this happened at the start of 2nd half and after that our coach said OK I give up Frenchies are better actors. and then it was a serious match for something like 15 minutes 

 

Iran has a tough match vs Morocco first to meet the very strong Brazil in the QF. :wacko: let's hope we see the repeat of 2016 match :d

      Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

      Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
