I have to disagree here, this was the best thing that could have happened to hockey. Every match now counts.

I was talking about sports though, to be fair.

Spoiler

Kidding of course :p I do dislike it there as well though, I just don't see how a regular match in a league where every team plays 82 (!!) matches absolutely 100% super duper NEEDS to have a winner. Even for smaller leagues or championships, it kind of makes it feel like they're creating tension when there is no reason to have tension.

Oh well, to each their own. I can also see how it has an upside for people.

The extra point rule (3 for regular time win, 2 for Extra Time/penalties win, 1 for Extra Time/penalties loss, 0 for Regular Time loss) can work only when you have the head-2-head result as main tie-breaker. In this case every match of a Preliminary phse group will count, because when you will have teams with same amount of points, it will be solved easily, the winner of their respective match will be favored.

Thanks to this every match will count, every team will try to win in regular time rather than losing on penalties and taking to the opponent a big advantage (no more 0-0 boring tactics).

No, they are 100% playing for a draw.

Yes. They are.

But this is 90 minutes of living very dangerously.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
