Somewhat related, interesting article about how the US hopes to become a leader in biathlon, and also how little they spend.  2.3 million on the sport.  I wish the article had a little more about the interview.  I would have really enjoyed that.

Laura Dahlmeier has caught a cold, so she will not start in today's Mixed Relay. Denise Herrmann replaces her.

With her health issues, I wonder how much longer she will put her body through all of this.  What a great talent, possibly the best ever, but constant illness has to take a mental toll at some point.  I am not wishing her any ill will, but I can not imagine the frustration.  The Germans still have a strong team.

Bernhard Kröll, the guy who discovered her and Magdalena Neuner, recently said that he cant imagine that she will continue until 2022 ...

Here we go again:

Day 1: Dahlmeier is ill

Day 2: Dahlmeier drinks her magic potion

Day 3: Dahlmeier is back and already dominating.

The irony of someone from Italy accusing german athletes of doping ...

She cant be that ill considering that she initially was supposed to compete. Would also like to know whether the scenario you are describing here actually ever happened?

    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
