Exactly. I think it was like that even in the older version, but maybe the highlighting was a bit less clear.

 

If you "Mark site read" (bottom-right part, near " Unread Content") all the sections should become lighter.

Is there a substantial difference between an "upvote" and a like? How will I know which to use next time I want to show my approval?

Maybe you give upvote for some indifferent explanation. You give like for something you like, you give sadface for something you don't like.

"Upvote" and "Confused" removed. The "Thanks" and "haha" reactions will count as a positive reaction (+1 point in the member's reputation)
