Really strong performance from the French team with a qualifying score of 161.428 compared to 155.162 at this year's Europeans. The Dutch team also improved since Munich scoring 159.396 compared to 156.464 but I'm not sure that is going to be enough to qualify for the final.

For the Commonwealth nations, Canada scored 152.7 in Birmingham and have progressed to 159.661 in Liverpool. Australia however have fallen back since the commonwealths - dropping from 158 at the Commies to 156.095 today and they are unlikely to make the final.

It's been a strong start from Brazil who look to be heading towards a score in excess of 160 while Germany are currently running around 2 points ahead of their European performance so should end up on a score around 159/160. With GBR and Italy still to come, it looks like it may come down to Canada and Germany for that final spot in the final.

Canada has its A team here (missing Olsen, who withdrew due to her mom passing away), versus the Commonwealths

Rebeca Andrade does a Biles changing her vault midway and out of finals. Well, at least she'll have AA, FX and UB finals. Brazil ends in 2nd ahead of Japan.

Balance beam has ruined :GER chances, looks like :CAN will take the 8th spot.

BB has been a curse for many teams here, only :JPN and :USA didn't struggle.

For me, it's the most stress inducing apparatus. I don't even consider a team's performance until after the BB. Just like the PH for the men.

:CAN is safe for the team final.

I'm really upset with the performances today. :BRA lost an easy gold medal on vault, Flávia Saraiva is probably hurt and now we'll have no chances of a team medal, a second all-around medal and maybe a medal on floor.

We still have Rebeca in the all-around, floor, bars and maybe beam, but this is definitely not the way I thought this would be.

:HUN will be around 14th by the end of the day, right? That's kinda crazy, 3 points from the Top12, even with Kovács' injury.

41.465 for :GBR on the uneven bars - 1 point up on their European score but flat against what they achieved at the Commonwealths. Will soon discover if they can avoid the curse of the balance beam.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
