@phelps looks like you missed this one, but I'm very interested in your choices here.

Greetings

thanks! yeah, I was sick during that period and I didn't spend any time in front of my PC...

but now I'm OK...;)

well, let's see...

Canoe Sprint, women's K4 500m...not an easy choice for me...most likely, the latest crews from Hungary are stronger, but I go with the longer streak of :GER Germany, also because many of those wins were led by Birgit Fischer, who I already picked in the individual event as the best female canoeist ever...

Cycling Track, men's Team Sprint...very much a British discipline for most of the times it has been contested, so I go with :GBR Great Britain...

Fencing, women's Team Epee...:FRA France 1996 all the way, mainly because of Laura Flessel leading that great team...

Swimming, men's 4*100m Freestyle Relay...no brainer, the :USA USA are so far away from the rest of the field in this event (even if the 2012 France was really a great team and deserved to be mentioned for a consolation prize)...

Swimming, women's 4*100m Freestyle Relay...another no brainer...2016 & 2020 :AUS Australia were just on another planet (but also here, mention of honor for the 2008 Dutch girls, another truly great relay)...

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
    • I’ve been recently introduced by some friends to cricket (or the t20 version of it, at least) and actually liked it so I’m following the World Cup that’s happening during this month
