Excellent case where the VAR system could be different: there is no reason why the on-field referee would need to go and watch, the VAR can easily decide this.

Yeah, I hate the bureaucracy around the VAR system. So much unnecessary drama compared to other sports. Football can't get one modernization right.

Exactly. VAR's are referees too, they know what they're doing.

 

On-field ref: "VAR, could you check this for me?"

VAR: "Yup, hold on."

VAR: "This is a clear foul, penalty for team A." / "No foul, resume play."

On-field ref: "Thanks.

 

 

Play continues as per the VAR's answer. Easy and clear.
