I see that the Western articles about the behavior of the Hungarian fans have arrived as it was expected. Cue to sweeping statements from some people about how Hungary is fascist and racist and shouldn't be allowed to host international events. Interestingly enough nobody is making a big deal about how the French fans were throwing plastic glasses and bottles in the direction of Gulácsi.

But they will "show it to Hungary" in Munich by decorating buildings with pride flags and maybe even have the arena lit up in rainbow colors (doubt that UEFA will allow the latter). As if anyone here would either care or appreciate such a gesture. Hungarian conservatives won't give a shit about it or they will laugh at it, and the Hungarian progressives will see it as an empty gesture because they know Germany won't actually do anything that can help their cause in Hungary.

Yes, the west is a big blob, everyone is the same and all people here have a Common Agenda. Baffling to see people with such a limited understanding of the world they live in.

Also:

1) Not using rainbow colors for the arena would be better how?

2) You realize that people can do things in support of other people instead of only doing it to „punish“ someone else?

Sometimes it helps not to be that self-centered.

3) People that feel the need to tell you that they don’t give a shit, usually give a shit ...

4) So what exactly are you doing apart from rambling on the internet?

There are different cultures and trying to force your values on another culture usually doesn’t work. Usually we see a conflict between values and money/self-interest and usually the latter wins out. If you aren’t willing to give something up to defend your values, you can’t be surprised if other people don’t take you seriously. The solution is to try to deal with people with different values as little as possible and to let them live in their own world.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

How are the Western liberals aren't one giant blob at this point in many ways? After many decades of Americanization there's no point in making a distinction when it comes social issues, especially in terms of how Western liberal media writes about these issues. There are "Hungary BAD" articles being written in multiple Western countries, so why should I bother listing the countries instead of just calling them "the West"?

If it's okay to use the rainbow colors as part of the official decoration, what's stopping other, less liberal countries to use political symbols in the official decoration that are less accepted in the West?

And they aren't supporting anyone, that's the issue. It's reactionary nonsense just like all the pride flags during the visit of Putin. It's obvious what the motivation behind this is, there were no talks about pride flags at the EUROs before Orbán decided that this will be the hot topic of the month to make his voters forget that he's selling the country to China.

If Turkey concede one more goal they will join Denmark 2000 as the worst group stage performance in Euro finals history (3 games, 0 pts, 0-8 goal difference).

They can become first team with zero goals scored in two different Euro finals since group stage was introduced in 1980 (they went 0, 0-5 in 1996).

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
    • This is absolutely ridiculous. If you aren’t willing to celebrate Pride then you should simply not come to Seattle. You have to respect local customs.   https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/c208392884jo
