She'll be only 29 next season. I hope she doesn't have retirement in plan any time soon.

Yeah but she's gonna be a mom in 9 months.

Maybe she changes her mind and really goes to sleep tonight after all.

I've seen first-hand how athletes can indeed fall asleep 2 minutes after dinner after a hard weekend of racing, but in this case I highly doubt it :d

Great end of season for Peiffer by the way!

On the French side, well that was a disappointing last race, especially for Fillon-Maillet. I'd like to know if it was only because he was tired or if he put too much pressure on himself for the mass start globe and the podium for the general ranking. (he could have been 2nd if he had done a good race since Loginov finished only 18th)

Edit: I got my answer, he was just tired and that's understandable after the incredible season he had. I'm so happy he finished 3rd in the overall ranking, and had his first ever wins this season, let's hope he can be as good as this year next season :fingers:

So the end of one brillinat career. 3 Olympic titles (The only and sole female biathlete to win gold medal at 3 consecutive Olympic Games) 6 Olympic Medals,  World Champion title, and some 35 World Cup Individual Podiums + 1 Mixed Relay WC podium. 3 careers Small Globes.

Thank you for everything Nastya. ! Hopefully this will not be the end of Biathlon in SVK and Paulína (and hopefully her sister Ivona very soon as well) will be able to continue reaching successes for our country

Haha I feel the same way, biathlon is the sport I enjoy and follow the most so when it's over it just feels empty...

I think there are two Clear favorites for women's next season

1)Roeiseland

2)Vitozzi

I think Wierer is going to retire soon, right?

Wierer was supposed to retire after last Olympics but they convinced her to go until the 2020 WC which will be held in Anterselva. Now I wonder if they convince her to go until the next Olympics? Both Tomasz Sikora & Weronika Nowakowska said there was some extra juice in the Italian team since their coach (P.Favre) joined the French team before the season without a warning so they wanted to prove they can perform without him as well. I guess they did just that.

she always said that next year's World Champs at her hometown village (Anterselva/Antholz) would mark the end of her career...

but of course all the Italian sport officials are already working to prevent that...

I secretely hope she's gonna keep racing until Beijing 2022, so to give time to our most promising youngsters (Lardschneider, Carrara, Comola just name some of them) to develop their skills with the right timing, without having to rush them in the World Cup team before they're actually ready...

    • Yes, and Ukraine is very important to Putin- far more important than the Baltic states, Georgia or even Poland. Without Ukraine, the restoration of the former USSR will be impossible for Putin. Another thing is that with pro-Russian Ukraine, Poland will have its entire eastern and northern border (Kaliningrad) with unfriendly countries except Lithuania, so it will basically have to militaries the all entire eastern part of Poland and build various fortifications there.
    • After all, it's one thing to dislike someone, even to destroy something (if it remains a rumor, which it usually is), and quite another to steal money... In the Italian national team there was the Wierer vs. Vittozzi conflict, in the polish team in Sochi 2014 there were accusations of various strange things: destroying a skies, rifle, etc., but theft is a serious crime, not just some rumors.
    • Stalin got Karelian Peninsula and Viborg and that was enough. Land invasion from Finland made no sense 60 yrs ago and makes even less sense in 2020s.   Finland isn't that important strategically even when it comes to Baltic Sea. U need to control Danish straits to control the Baltic. Warsaw Pact had an invasion plan of Denmark for this one reason.    Likewise Mediterranean Sea was no priority for Stalin. SU wasn't a naval power back in the day.
    • Exactly. It's not just Simon and her theft, there are other issues as well.
    • By the way, I did not follow the action, but there was another accident. "Jeanne Richard damaged her teammate Oceane Michelon's rifle. She was caught red-handed by Justine Braisaz-Bouchet." I do not know, if it was resolved somehow.
    • If Jeanmonnot and Brasaiz are against Simon, perhaps they should have dropped Simon to improve the team spirit. Especially since there was the possibility of dropping Simon for her bad behavior. One thing is conflicts like the Vittozzi-Wierer on Italy NT some times ago, but money theft within the team is quite another. Simon clearly has a serious problem with himself.
    • Let's not act as if this is a thing for this season. If it didn't result in performance drama last season, it shouldn't now.
    • Organization is excellent , except weather
    • Despite everything, Stalin gave up: Finland, Greece, Austria, Yugoslavia (there were no USSR troops there). I don't think Putin would have given up on these countries, because even Stalin was more rational than he is. The Communist Party even limited Stalin, Brezhnev etc., who had to take its opinion into account, and Putin is like some old tsar who does 100% of what he wants and the all of the country just applauds him.
    • Russia and Soviet Union follow that tactics for many decades, Stalin became a huge WWII winner because of that. NATO can't really afford a war of attrition or any open war against above par army right now. And Putin knows that. At least the nonsense about nuclear bombs is over. That threat was never going to materialise since Ukraine isn't that important to be casus belli for WWIII.
