if i was them i wouldn't challenge Moradi , i'd go for lighter weights , even i wish that Tian could kick someone from -81 kg :d but ofc it's almost impossible

I hope so because Tian Tao is so unpredictable. you never can say "OK this is too much for him he won't lift this" I know in China they care more about winning the gold medal. so I assume they will pick someone with a good chance for gold (but also possible to win nothing) over a safe silver medal.

during 2014 AG, where Tian Tao was almost unknown at the time, Rostami finished his competition with 380kg and already shaking hands with others as the gold medalist. Tian "after failing 211" tried 218 (equal to WR at the time) and made it. Rostami's face was funny at the time, he collapsed on his chair. you never can say never with Tian Tao. he almost pulled out something like that in Rio 2016 but this time Rostami had one more attempt saved to come back and win the gold.

Oh come on man, how can you as a fan of weightlifting not want to see someone like that fight for gold at the Olympics? :( Put flags aside if it provides awesome competition, come on :hyper:

The likes of Tian Tao are exactly what makes me enjoy weightlifting, just like that epic, epic 214kg CJ WR for gold by Rahimov in Rio.

:d I like to see such a competition but winning the gold medal comes first. it's not like we can win more than 10 golds in the Olympics. Moradi is one of our few Olympic gold medal chances.

but maybe this is too early to talk about the Olympics. Moradi is not young, let's see if he can keeps his current shape for the Olympics after all !

really interesting competition in women's -69 kg , no senior WRs were broken , but it was really worth watching , China took the gold , Silver went for Olympic champion Rim Jong Sim and Ecuador won bronze with an extraordinary performance by Neisi Dajomes scoring a total of 259 KG

76kg :p

Too bad Rim's coaches went for 153kg CJ in that last attempt, where 152kg would have been enough for gold...it really looked like it was barely 1kg too much for her.

well i was thinking about our athlete Sara Ahmed chances in this new weight at Olympics , so i wrote her previous weight 69 :d these're typical North Korean coaches he searches for the 3 gold medals , but i think she should have lifted this bar in training so that what encouraged her coach

Lidia won the gold , but only secured a bronze in C&J ,quite a good tournament for Belarus overall and very dubious call in :ECU Slazar's 3rd attempt in C&J , IMO that can't be a good lift

    • I used to think Johnston(e) - from some place John build (aka stone for building something hehe).   I'm not familiar if Scottish or Irish clans are named after such clan founder or a place?
    • i'm triggered,legitimately thought kennedy 2.0 happened,just way more out of nowhere
    • Perfectly obvious.    Johnson = son of John Johnston or Johnstone = From St John's Town ie Perth in Scotland.
    • Nope. Azu missed out by 0.01. Bromell lost silver by 0.001!
    • Double silver and no medal for Bromell?
