South American Games 2022

I don’t follow international handball too much outside of various multi-sports games, but the women’s side in South America seems pretty open behind Brazil. :ARG:CHI:PAR:URU all registered relatively close results in games against each other, or at least there didn’t seem to be a more dominant side following Brazil. Any thoughts/analysis from our South American users, or those more knowledgeable on handball? Trying to figure out if :PAR getting the Pan Am quota is a surprise.

We're playing with a B team (no players from european clubs).

CHI/PAR/URU are all around the same level. They seem to beat each other alternatively all the time.

Today is one of the days with the most clear gold medal chances for :ARG I believe (probably together with the following day).

The two "easiest" golds (men's hockey and K1 1000) and quite a few others that will be very contested.

If Trinidad qualifies next year at the 2023 CAC games, Peru will sneak in as the last women's field hockey team at the 2023 Pan American Games, even though they finished last here.

Perks of competing at the Pan American Cup!

@thiago_simoes some comments on the women's gymnastics competition?

Everything was more or less according to what I expected. We had a "mixed" team, with Carolyne, Júlia and Christal from our A team, and Beatriz, Thais and Lu Maia from our B team. Only Carolyne and Júlia got individual medals. I expected medals for Thais on bars and Lu Maia on beam too, especially because the level of the competition was not high at all, but the B team only proved why they are the B team and got no medals.

Wonder what happens if both Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago men's teams qualify through the CAC Games since there won't be any more teams at the Pan Am Cup.

Probably to the highest ranked nation via the world rankings (which would currently go to Peru). Of course, T&T finishing top two isn't guaranteed. Cuba tends to show up to the CAC Games.

The next best ranked team at the Pan Am challenge I would assume, but WR probably makes more sense.

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same

Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
