Very important title for her, because she will soon have to defend second round (main draw) points from US open and most likely she won't play at all. At the moment she is fourth or fifth alternative in qualifying and there are less than 48 hours until the start of the tournament.

Very true, although last year she was injured after US Open and did not play for a few months so she won't be defending points this year after the US Open at least.

Linda Fruhvirtova (age 17 and four months) makes her first WTA final in Chennai. She will also move into Top 100 of the rankings on Monday.

 

The second SF will be Magda Linette vs Katie Swan.

Well, the second SF ended after three games as Katie Swan retired with exhaustion. So it's   vs in the final.

Linda Fruhvirtova wins her maiden WTA title in Chennai! She comes back from one set down and 1-4 in the third set to beat Magda Linette 4-6 6-3 6-4!

 

Her younger sister Brenda won W25 in Italy earlier today and continues her winning ITF streak that is at 25 matches now.

Bronze medalist in Tokyo  Luísa Stefani back to circuit after a year injuried (happened in the 2021 US Open semifinas) and won the title in Chennai in partnership with Gaby Dabrowski
