Also Eva Samkova broke both her ankles today and is out of Beijing. What a shame she’s been on top of the sport for so long now so her missing a chance for the third consecutive medal sucks.

yep, and in a very weird way. Such a shame, after losing her mom and dad in the last 2 years she wanted to succeed in Beijing as it was the only point she relied on and she put all her energy into it.

19th place for Jugovac.   Low score as expected, but there were lots of fallers out there. Looks like she might seriously Swaney her way to the Olympics.

Yeah, Samkova was boarding her own level. She was the strongest contestant for gold and probably a medal contestand in the mixed team competition with Jan Kubicik. It is a real pity but nothing we can do .... Maybe in Cortina ..... Now, the whole nation wishes her fast and full recovery.

I just looked at past World Cup Seasons and i think that this Might be the First time ever that a guy won 3 World Cups in a row within one Season.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

no, in the early years of the discipline 3 athletes (:SWE Pontus Stahlkloo 2001, :FRA Xavier Delerue 2004 and :CAN Drew Neilson 2007*) already won 3 consecutive races in the same season...

*and in all those 3 races, :USA Nate Holland was the runner up...

 

moreover, in 2001 :CAN Jasey Jay Anderson won the last 5 races of that season one after the other...

 

in recent times, however, there have been quite a few doubles (and also some "3 wins out of 4 races") by a bunch of athletes (:AUT Alessandro Haemmerle being the guy doing that the most times), but nobody could deliver the "triple" until :GER Martin Noerl did it yesterday...

Ok, wikipedia only has Snowboard Cross results from the 2007/2008 Season onwards. Still remarkable that noone in the past 15 years was able to do it and then Martin Nörl of all People did it ...

I thought that ist was rather Common on the womens side, But apparently there is some Kind of curse. I think on the womens side Jacobellis was the Last one to do it back in 2012, Since then Moioli (4 times), Maltais (3 times), Samkova (2 times) and Jacobellis/Bankes (1 time) all won 2 in a row.

yeah, I was also surprised by the women's results...:USA Jacobellis won 3 races in a row 3 or 4 times, then only the poor :FRA Karine Ruby did it twice and :CAN Valerie Maltais did it once in 2010...

and that's it...

if we consider consecutive races, but in 2 different seasons, then :CAN Maelle Ricker and :CZE Eva Samkova are also to be added to the list...

meanwhile many girls won 2 races in a row (and 3 or more in a season, but not consecutive)...

      So, JTB and Tarjei had 19 podium finishes in 2024/25, seeing as they're retired and won't be competing next season, thought it would be fun to do a completely unnecessary and inaccurate simulation of what breakthroughs next season might have:   The most decorated biathletes of this season without Boes would be as follows:   Laegreid: 6-6-3 Perrot: 4-2-2 Jacquelin: 3-1-1 Samuelsson: 2-2-2 Stroemsheim: 2-0-2 Wright: 2-0-1 Fillon-Mallet: 1-5-2 Giacomel: 1-5-1 Uldal: 1-0-3 Soerum: 1-0-2   Some interesting things happen, for example, Wright becomes sprint and pursuit world champion, Mandzyn gets a very rare podium for Ukraine at the start of the season. Horn and Frey get their first ever podium in world cup and Riethmueller gets a world cup victory.   For the nation medal table, Norway still convincingly takes first place:   Norway: 10-7-11 France: 8-11-5   And then everybody else fighting for scraps:   Sweden: 2-2-3 United States: 2-0-1 Italy: 1-5-1 Germany: 1-0-2 Slovenia: 1-0-0   Even without the Boes, only 9 countries on the podium, but Pidruchnyi for Ukraine comes in 4th for three times, other than that, only Finland and Switzerland were close to getting onto the podium.       There is a problem with this sport in Italy, becouse in the 50 km classic today the best is still the 35-year-old Pellegrino... Where is the rest? Why is Graz so irregular, why was de Fabiani talent wasted? There are many such questions. And the fact that Norway and its dominance among men is destroying this sport is another matter. They are doing the same thing that the Norwegian women used to do under Bjoergen and Johaug domination some years ago and Klaebo has even become an improved version of Bjoergen... Bjoergen has never dominated sprints with such ease. And then you can't be surprised that Russia will say that without them there is no this sport and no serious rivality and many people will believe them: many people in Italy, for example.
