Short Track Speed Skating at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

So after all the early struggles :KOR still ends up at the top of the short track medal table at these games thanks to wins in both 1500m events.

Also, not sure if it was pointed out in this thread but all three women's individual event winners from 2018 successfully defended their titles. Truly astonishing. At least Choi and Shulting should be back to try defending it again in 2026 (Fontana apparently wants to retire due to a dispute with her federation).

What a chance missed for Valentina. 4th placed athlete from her QF qualified on time and she finished just behind.

Turned out to be the 25th place in the final analysis. Considering she just barely qualified in both events (1500 m on reallocation), I'd say two Top 25 results are an amazing achievement for our debut. Hopefully it's a start of something good.

EDIT: Apparently she broke both her PB and NR today, and by a margin. Couldn't have asked for more.

don't worry, our noc will fire all the ice federation's officials and coaches she wants to be replaced...

and we'll find the way to cover her with money to keep on going until 2026...

She and Goggia are not only the 2 most talented athletes we have, they're also the cover girls of our home Games...

p.s. another amazing stat...Fontana, Schulting and Desmet made all 3 individual finals...I don't think we've never seen 3 girls at the same time being so dominant over the whole range of distances...

Feels like there is some drama that hasn't really been covered by English-language media.

Today, immediately after the individual medal, Fontana accused in an interview "one of the medalists of the men's relay" (anyone who follows the Italian short track knows he was talking about Confortola) saying that, in agreement with the federation, he tried to do it in 2019/20 seriously injure causing her to fall in each training. That's why Fontana decided to go in Hungary some years ago
