How many medals do you expect from your Nation at the 2020 Olympics? (Final Version)

Athletics: 1
Beach Volleyball: 1
Boxing: 1
Canoeing: 1
Football: 1
Gymnastics: 1
Judo: 1
Sailing: 1
Skateboarding: 2
Surfing: 1
Swimming: 1
Volleyball: 1

"Surprise" medals among Cycling, Equestrian, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Wrestling or any of the previous sports: 2

Total: 15

Anything between 15 and 19 (our record from Rio) is good, less than that it would be disappointing.

Projections for India

Optimistic (1G, 6S, 10B):

Gold:

Elavenil Valarivan (10M Air Rifle)

Silver:

Amit Panghal
Elavenil Valarivan and Divyansh Panwar (10M Air Rifle)
Vinesh Phogat
Bajrang
Abhishek Varma
Archery XD

Bronze:

Deepika
Vikas
Mary
Lovlina
Men Hockey
Saurabh Chaudhury
Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary (10M Air Pistol)
Ravi Dahiya
Deepak Kumar
Manu Bhaker

Pessimistic (3S, 4B):

Silver:
Amit Panghal
Vinesh Phogat
Bajrang

Bronze:
Vikas
Mary
Lovlina
Ravi Dahiya

Taking a final look at our medal chances, my evaluation:

Athletics: Still a good chance for Sandra Perkovic, although she has declined and the competition got stronger.

Small chance for Filip Mihaljevic, even smaller one for Sara Kolak given her recent results.

Gymnastics: Chance for Tin Srbic in horizontal bar.

Judo: Outside chance for Barbara Matic and Karla Prodan

Karate: Small chance for Ivan Kvesic, but his latest results don't give much reason to hope.

Rowing: Medal in men's pair should be safe. Medal in single sculls is very unlikely.

Sailing: Chance in 49er and men's laser, but I don't expect a medal here.

Shooting: Several chances, but tough and unpredictable. I would be very happy with one medal here.

Taekwondo: Good chance for Matea Jelic, but tough competition. Some chances for Kanaet, outside chance for Sapina. I'm afraid Kristina Tomic isn't in shape to win a medal.

Tennis: I suppose Mektic/Pavic are the favorites, but I'm not too sure about that, as this isn't a common doubles tournament, there are many good singles players in the mix. They still should have a good chance. Cilic/Dodig maybe not impossible, but unlikely.

We will probably also have a mixed doubles team, but I would consider a medal here unlikely. Darija Jurak has never been very successful in mixed doubles.

Water Polo: Not entirely sure, but given the latest results it is more likely that there will be at least three better teams.

Wrestling: Another outside chance.

Considering everything, I think that 4-5 medals for Croatia is a reasonable guess. Could be 1 or 2 more if things go well.

@chinmoyYou must remove the Javelin and Badminton from there. These two and few more should go into Boxing, Wrestling, Shooting, etc.

For India, the number should be between 7 and 16.

Majority of then from action sports like Shooting, Boxing, Wrestling.

Philippines :PHI

Contingent - 19

I’m looking at 6 possible medals in this year’s Tokyo Olympics

1. Ernest Obiena - M Athletics Pole Vault

2. Eumir Marcial - M Boxing

3. Nesthy Petecio - W Boxing

4. Yuka Saso - W Golf

5. Carlos Yulo - M Gymnastics Floor exercise

6. Hidilyn Diaz - W Weightlifting

Two of them are current world champions (Petecio, Yulo). While Marcial a silver medallist and Diaz a bronze medallist in the latest edition of their respective world championship. Saso is the current LPGA US Open Champion and Obiena is ranked 6th in the world.

Hopefully, one of them would be able to bring home the elusive gold medal for :PHI

Also, the last time we won more than 1 medal in the Summer Olympic Games — way back in 1932 where we won 3 bronze medals

I hope the Gold Medal drought ends this year! ??????

I'm not sure about Malaysia. They are unlikely to get 1 in badminton maybe diving but 2 Chinese won't help her
