None of those times are personal bests except McDougall... so there is room for improvement.

Most of their PB's were skated on the significantly faster Salt Lake City though. Times like these (and Weidemann's 6:46.81 5km record of last night) halfway in October are incredible though. Either a great sign, or a sign of peaking way too hard, way too early, time will tell :p

By the way, Bloemen was on WR pace until roughly 8km.

I thought the top-3 mentioned here was just that, the top-3, but apparently that was the full result...the women's 5k even had only two participants, only one of which can be seen as internationally competitive. That's....not a whole lot, even the men's 5k only had eight participants.

Pretty common in North America. 2018 US Olympic trials had only four participants in the women's 5000m and two participants (including a 53 year old) in the men's 10000m.

Good chance there'll be a fresh young 51-year old competing this season :p

Fast times in Salt Lake City, with a 37.08 for Erin Jackson placing her in tied-16th place all-time. Maria Victoria Rodriguez' breaks her own Argentinian NR, Shruti Kotwal obliterates her Indian NR.

Also a Brazilian record in the men's 5k, Marcelo Donadio's NR has been obliterated by 26 seconds

    • really sad when you win a olympic medal 3 years later and no one cares Of course it will be registered and so on, but all those moments of joy etc are gone. Yes its first Croatian wrestling medal since independence, but there was a medal won for Yugoslavia by Croatian.

    • Surely they will unless I am missing something.
    • So, will they appeal to CAS like in Sinner case?
    • https://www.skysports.com/tennis/news/12110/13262332/iga-swiatek-five-time-grand-slam-champion-accepts-one-month-suspension-in-doping-case Cwnt see WADA not overturning this. One month for a banned substance is very low even for accidental consumption. I’ve only ever heard that short for something banned only in Competition and therefore not seen as fully doping. .
    • big big news regarding Olympic bronze medalist and two time World Champion  Zurabi Datunashvili   https://ita.sport/news/the-ita-acknowledges-cas-add-decision-sanctioning-wrestler-zurabi-datunashvili-for-anti-doping-rule-violations/   to be honest everything was suspicious about this guy, his sudden improvement since 2021, his body, his sudden retirement in 2023 . its great to see him finally getting caught.   they will reallocate the medals later after the end of the process but his Olympic bronze will go to  Ivan Huklek, I think that will be the first ever wrestling medal for Croatia   his 2021 World title will go  Maskevich and the 2022 gold goes to  Bisultanov Bisultanov will benefit more than anybody else, he also gets a bronze from 2021 and  Kessidis will get a bronze from 2022.
