JonPhi 250 Posted August 17, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 17, 2021 Athletics European Championships in Munich next year will have a much shorter and new qualification system. For past editions athletes had the opportunity to qualify in a circle of 1,5 years (January - to the championships), for Munich only results from 27. July 2021 on (Olympics) will count. Aswell there are much higher Entry Standards and also the World Rankings will count for the Qualification: https://www.obeznik.cz/l/limity-mnichov2022/ prso1000

Beside that the number of athletes in field events is only 26! not sure how they want to handle non qualified nations as there will be few with the new entry standards. In the past each NF could enter one non qualified athlete per event subject to approval by EAA based on quality of athlete. I guess that is gone too. But let’s wait for the official document in English. Makedonas

Jur 683 Posted August 17, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 17, 2021 This is a really dumb Qualification process. They pretend to find 60 marathon runners under 2.14 considering there's a World Championships in the same month???

Better medal or top ten at ECH than without a chance at WCH in my opinion. but even if you are right, they will fill up the field via rankings, so you still have good chances with 2.20🤣or even worse. Orangehair43 251 Posted August 17, 2021 #9 Share Posted August 17, 2021 Some like Holly Bradshaw are targeting the WCH, Commonwealth and Europeans. Pole Vault through is an event where competing a lot through the season is usual.
