Olympian1010 reacted to heywoodu in Auto Racing NASCAR Cup Series 2020
Alabama is a strong top-5 pick for every single negative ranking you can think of, so yeah
Anyway, pretty awesome show of support for Wallace before today's race by all the other drivers and teams, and now the race has finally started. As the great Jack Brabham said: when the flag drops, the bullshit stops. Let's go

Krasimir Anev announced today that he is done with the sport. This is his X time of threatening to retire, but maybe this time he is serious. Anev has a 7 year rivalry with our federations president Ekaterina Dafovska and by his words he can't take it anymore. It has been evident for years that both don't like each other. By my account he is 90% retired and 10% possibly competing for another country. Can't see him returning to the team this time around.

Not coming from Djokovic. Let's face it, 2020 has been full of people making total idiots of themselves, but Djokovic manages to be easily top-10 in that ranking...and it's like he tries to improve it (i.e. say some dumber shit) every month. Unbelievable.
This COVID hotspot appearing in 'his' tournament was of course rather expected, one must have lacked some cells to even go there

While I am not a fan of all those (newly created, mixed) team events being added just to fill the void, there are definitely some team events in individual sports which have built up quite a reputation (artistic gymnastics, equestrian, fencing). These are far from just adding up individual scores.

Lol the average gamer in 2020 is anything but progressive. More like the opposite.

So, I'm the second biggest lefty in the forum after olympian, no surprise.
Btw that question that correlates your concept of art to your political compass is very ideological on itself

They want 7 (!) events in table tennis??
Team events need to go. Replace them with M/W doubles if you will. Team events made some sense back when there was a round robin format in 2008, but since 2012 they have basically been ridiculous. As much as 16 players go to the Olympics to lose one doubles bout within the Round of 16 team match. Those representing Australia and the US have zero hope of anything more. Total waste of quotas.

Meanwhile in America...
23 University of Clemson (American) Football players tested positive yesterday.
13 University of Texas (American) Football players tested positive yesterday.
The Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball shut down their training camp facility in Florida after 8 of their players tested positive yesterday.
The Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball had a few positive tests and also shut down their facility.
11 National Hockey League Players also tested positive yesterday as training camps opened.
We're obviously going to see more tests as more and more players are required to be tested in order to practice. Most of the players who tested positive are asymptomatic, which means they are showing no illness. But that means the virus can be easily spread throughout a locker room and may infect the more vulnerable demographic such as older coaches, trainers, staff, front office workers. Having been apart of countless teams and been in thousands of locker rooms, being 6ft apart is a near impossible task. Contact between players and coaches and staff is an integral part of sport. I can only predict that we will see more and more positive cases in the next few weeks.
Having sports in North America in 2020 does not look as promising as it may seem.

A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system.
--
Yes, that can definitely be seen as an advantage, but saying 'Agree' is like saying you think a one-party state is a good system. I really don't think it is, but if one has to name an advantage of a system like that, it could be this.
It's like saying "An advantage of that annoying neighbour being killed is that he's not being annoying anymore." That might be true on a purely literal basis, but it doesn't at all outweigh the general disadvantags (like, you know, someone being murdered).

I wish there was an option for 'Neutral', some things really are not just either one way or another..
People with serious inheritable disabilities should not be allowed to reproduce.
Yes, everyone should have this right, basically. But it is not an evil thing to at the very least discuss if it's humane to reproduce knowing there's a high risk of your child getting a serious disability entirely because of your genes...

Yeah, but humans being divided in seperate races is a rather tricky issue in science, there's not a lot of consensus about. I'm assuming what they mean is not race, but ethnicity, because it's the most likely option, but they could have been clearer

Olympian1010 reacted to heywoodu in [OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread
And this one is rather tricky.
Our race has many superior qualities, compared with other races.
I strongly agree when race is being seen in the way it's supposed to be seen (ie, humans as a whole, 'the human race'), but I strongly disagree when instead of race, they mean ethnicity

A video being presented like this already makes it look as shady as possible
I tried to watch it, but the parts with subtitles go way too fast and the parts without subtitles are impossible for me to understand, so to anyone who watched (preferably someone non-Indian and non-Chinese ): is this as biased as I think it is judging by the thumbnail?

former autosport driver and multiple paralympic champion Alex Zanardi earlier today suffered a terrible accident with his handbike (apparently, he crashed against a truck ) and now he's in grave life danger...
right now he's having a very complicated neurological operation after suffering a hard head trauma...
c'mon, man! if there's someone who can survive something like this, it's you!
